Sorry, no help here with info in the Sac area, but if you're willing to come down to the bay area, Chris at Digital Instincts will SSE it for you.

I really wanted to like Placer Tactical as I'm a big supporter of small businesses, but he took way too long to reply to emails and never once replied to a phone message. I was kept in the dark for about 4 weeks after I dropped nearly $700 on my SA XDS.

I got Rick's business card so I thought I would have better luck purchasing a gen 4 Glock for my wife, but again there was not one return call nor a return email. I have given up on that store.

I have heard good things about Lodi Guns - (209) 334-9334, but I haven't used them.

I bought my wife's Gen 4 G19 at Tracy Rifle and Pistol - (209) 833-9100... She gets to pick it up this Saturday. I really can't say enough good things about these guys. They answered the phone, told me that they didn't have one in stock, but they could get almost anything in a matter of 2 days. The only negative thing I can say about them is that they are too far away from where I live in Sac.

        Good Luck

Yeah I have emailed for info and no response... so my experience so far goes along with that. The web store looks good, but that would drive me nuts as far as no communication once I paid.

I am right there with you guys about Placer Tactical. Extremely useless when it comes to answering phone messages or email. Spend your money elsewhere. Placer Tactical obviously does not care.

The Rock Island Tactical in 10mm is not available now in any distributor. Only the short barrel version with 4.25" barrel is available. I heard from a FFL friend the Rock Island 2011 10mm single stack gun will become available next, since it seems they tool up for production runs of one model at a time. Last year we saw the 5" Tactical model in 10mm shipping, now the short barrel model is shipping, and later this year they will have the 2011 single stack with the railed dust cover shipping. Well, that's what I heard.

ive bought a couple guns from him and imho he does have major problems replying to and answering the phone. i equate this to how busy he is for a one man shop...he also has another job. i would not say he doesnt care about business. i would say that the customers in his shop take priority over ones on the phone.

if you want to call him, i recommend you call after 3PM every weekday. he pretty much answers every time during the late afternoon. otherwise, stop by his shop and talk to him just like the other 10 people that stop by to bother him on a daily basis haha.

you guys i am sure know the story, old guys love to just hang out at gun shops and shoot the sh_t. unfortunately for rick, he is too polite to tell folks to get lost when they are just window shopping.

I can get you the RIA 10mm Tactical 2011 VZ 4.25 but they are very limited. As I type this, there are only 5 left in the warehouse.

To reply to the other comments, sorry guys, I am slammed and only a one man shop. I do have posted hours on my website and in my signature that reflect when I am in my shop and available to answer emails and calls.
The best time to call is between 3-7 Tues - Fri and 12-5 on Saturday, this is when I am in my shop. If calls are made between these times and you get a voicemail, give it a few minutes and call back, I could have been with a customer and unable to answer. I do have other obligations during the morning through early afternoon and on the days that I am closed. There are also some days I have to close due to these obligations as well.
I get a lot of calls, voicemails and emails when I am closed and sometimes can't get to all of them when I open since the day normally starts right off with customers showing up.
I'm sorry to those who have tried and did not get a response but I ask that if you don't here from me within a day or two, call me during my business hours.
I do care about my customers and I believe most of them will confirm this. I don't like to get one customer in and out quickly as to put just a number on them like some shops do.

                  Respectfully,

                  Rick
