    Selling a Glock for a M&P!

The end days are upon us!

    Hell has frozen over!

    I've lost my mind!

This is what all of my friends have said. I'm selling my spare G17 which I bought as a backup to my main G17 so I can fund a new M&P Pro 5" to start shooting USPSA with.

The logic goes like this. Sell a gun that just sits there, and will likely never be shot so I can get a gun that I'll shoot every two weeks or more. I think this is a good trade on my part.

Yes, I could shoot the Glock in production like I will the M&P, but I HATE the finger grooves, and grind all mine off, which makes it no longer production legal. I could shoot in limited or limited 10, but then I'd likely need more work done to the gun and people are running some real race guns there.

So... M&P it is! Never shot one yet, but it can't be that bad. I'll most certainly be running over to Apex to get the parts for the trigger so it's not as terrible as I've heard. It comes with FO sights, so I won't have to touch those. Can't run a magwell. I've heard of people having issues with the 10 round mags, has anyone heard of this?

Well, I guess this will put off my STI if it comes into the FFL this month.

Thanks, I'll make the purchase next Saturday, but it's a done deal in my mind. I've been eyeing the M&P line for a while, and it's taken me some time to get over my Glocks. Still love them, they still work, but out of the box I need to mod them for me to be happy.

Grats on the M&P! I recently purchased the CORE model and have enjoyed it very much. No real issue on the magazines other than trying to find some without being screwed. Most shops sell them for $40-50, but you can find them online if you patient for 25-30

I considered the CORE for a few seconds, but I don't think I'll ever run a RMR, at least not at this point. I do like the idea of RMR's and I'd probably put one on a carry gun before a competition gun, which this will be.

The 9mm mags are a very tight fit getting the 10th round in. It also can take a pretty good smack to get the mag seated when the slide is closed. The 40 cal mags are easier to load, but I've had a few instances of the mag not properly seated even with a good smack. The normal capacity mags when blocked to 10 rounds are easier to load. For competition you might consider buying some full capacity mags and having them shipped directly to someone out of state who will block them to 10 rounds. Our FFL did this on site for two non-CA M&Ps. All I had to do was supply the magazine blockers.

I think you can just have the full cap mags sent to a local FFL with a Large Capacity Magazine Permit and have them block them for a few bucks.

Grats on the soon to be M&P.

Your other Glock will still love you as long as you remember to take it out for a walk once in a while. Take it out less then once a month and it may turn on you though. Ive heard horror story's about Glocks gone bad when their owners didn't pay enough attention to them.

Don't be that guy! Don't be a another victim.

Well in six months the only thing you will be able to get in Kaliforniastan will be glocks between the roster and the sse bill. So get what you can now before we are all f'ed

congrats in advance. i like the Gen 2 G17; no grooves on the grip and no rail, which is my personal preference.

Not to be mean, but that's one of the worst ideas I've heard in a long time.
