    Hackathorn vs. Vickers sights

    Howdy,

I am going to change the sights on my Glock 19 and would like opinions from people that have them on their CCW guns. I am seeking opinions on the following sets:

    Ameriglow Hackathorn set

Vickers battlesight paired with the recommended .245 fiber optic sight

The primary use will be for CCW in a Raven concealment phantom holster. My only concern is the tall sight on the Vickers, it would be bad if it snags in the holster.

    Thanks in advance

IMO fiber optic sights are a no go for a CCW gun. What will you do in Low/No light situations? I would do a Vickers rear sight and a HD Trijicon up front.

      Low/no light...

I ALWAYS have a flashlight (or two) available when I carry for target identification, so having a fiber optic front is less of a concern.

I AM concerned how the fiber optic front will endure being carried everyday though.

BTW, do you have personal experience with the setup you suggested? What have your experiences been?

      Thanks,

Another good choice would be a Gold bead sight if you're not into NS. I would choose that of a fiber optic sight.

            Fiber optic weak...

I will definitely take that into consideration. It really sucks when equipment breaks in the middle of a course or worse a DGU...

I still haven't heard your opinion on the Vickers combo in my original post

I've been wanting to get a set of the Hacks for awhile now just to see how they stack up to my favorite sights Heine straight 8 ledge.

I remember hearing about a replacement cycle for FO if your using it for carry. I would see if you can google the topic and hear from actual SME's.

I love the rear vickers sights, works well with NS. (have not used the Fiber sight), and raven holsters leave room for taller sights worst comes to worst you can have them make the holster to take some suppressor sights.

I have the Hackathorns on my G23 and G21. I like them a lot and highly recommend them. Your eyes can't help but be drawn to the front sight. A set will soon find there way onto my G30.

Id go with the Vickers me personally I hate U-notch rear sights. Once I pick up my G34 it's getting Vickers rear sights and red fiber front.

At one point I ran about 2200 rounds through my Glock 34 before I "had" to switch the fiber optic rod. And that was by choice, because it was a little dim from all the gun powder/discharge.

It was my competition gun, so I must have drawn it in and out of the holster at least 100 times.

Fiber optic rod is durable enough for carry if you're aware of its limitations (not so useful in dim light situations).

I'm running Ameriglo Spartan night sights on my Glock 26 carry gun. You get the Hackthorn style front sight with the traditional two dot tritium rear sight. I really like it. I don't have a picture of them on my gun, but I will try and find an image online so you can see what these look like.
