S/A cylinder spin

So just picked up a Vaquero (old model) is it horrible to spin the cylinder? There is no half cocked with this firearm. Just open the loading gate and the cylinder is free. Thanks guys.

when you say horrible do you mean it spins roughly/grinding or too freely?

I've never owned a single action but aren't they designed to span freely so you can load them. is it not clicking in at each index so that you can easily align the the bullets with the holes?

either way it's a Ruger so my guess is it's not a tough fix if you take it to a gunsmith
or send it back for them to take a look at.

pretty sure he just wants to open the gate and spin the cylinder for the cool factor. I think it should be fine as long as you dont slam the loading gate shut or mess with the action while its spinning.

Exactly lol. Nothing wrong with the gun at all. Reason I ask if its ok is cuz most guns you have to half cock the pistol to disengage the sear. Where as simply opening the loading gate is all it takes to free the cylinder on the Ruger, which disengages the sear and tucks it into the frame. I understand the "if" factor is if the sear catches while ur spinning, U can break it and take ur gun out of the fight. Now since the sear is fully disengaged on the Ruger I was curious if its ok to do so lol.

I think I might have a mild form of lexdysia but I if I down slow everything is fine just.

Seems like everybody on these pawn swamp container wars has an urgent need to spin & wrist snap any revolver they come across...

The hand and cylinder ratchets will wear fast if you do this a bunch.
Not advised at all for old Colts and clones.
The Ruger will take lots of abuse but again, that wonderful sound comes at the expense of increased wear in this very important area.

There is just something about that hand ratcheting, and the sound ...so cowboy. But I don't do that to any of mine.
