How are the Glock 42s?

Anyone have commentary on the G42 who own or handled one?

Everything I've read is mostly negative. Should be a 9mm, too big for 380 etc.

Official Glock commentary is they couldn't make the G42 smaller without giving up the shooting properties they had in mind for the G42 and 380.

380 to me is for micro conceal or backup so I don't mind the lack of 9mm for sub compact carry.

Question is the G42 a better 380 to shoot than the p238, lcp, bodyguard and everything else in that space? The g42 is bigger than those guns but does it really give you benefits for the big size trade off?

it's an awesome little gun. Just make sure you factory ammo (no steel case/freedom munitions), and watch finger/grip position as it can prematurely lock the slide back.

From experience, I LOVE it. Yes it's bigger than an LCP and a 238 and most other .380s, but they made it larger for a reason: shootability. The gun does not move in your hand while you shoot. I think if they made it any smaller, they would be duplicated an LCP or bodyguard and it wouldn't have been anything new. I think it's a great option for a .380 and a deep concealment gun.

Quick note: lots of people bash the .380 but with the right ammo, you can get 12" of penetration and reliable expansion on a consistent basis. No it doesn't transfer the same amount of energy, but no one ever volunteers to stand in front of a .380 because they believe some nonsensical crap about it not working.

I want one! They have been revised twice so far and have a #2 on the inside of the frame now.

Tough dudes on Calguns for sure. I reliably go down every time when I am hit by .68 Paintball that doesn't break. I've shot chocolate whoppers out of PB guns and I'm sure that will defeat all but the thickest Kevlar.

It will require a longer grip at minimum.

I had one. It shot really well and was very light for its size. Ultimately it was too big for me to pocket carry when I was running and I like my XDs better so I sold it. I'll probably end up with a bodyguard or Kahr p380 to fit the pocket carry roll.

#1 in the first revision
#2 in the second and unknown changes so far.

Love mine, used to carry a PPK, now this is my daily CCW pistol. The trigger pull is heavier than a G17 or G26 which I used to own. Spare mags are still and pricey on gunbroker. Luckily the shop I did transfer at had spares at MSRP price.

For those needing a longer grip they do make pinky extensions for the factory mags.

I have one (which is actually listed for sale right now , but not for any negative reasons on the G42 itself), and those issues where people say it should be 9mm or it's too big for a .380 are all non-G42 owners and are just reviewing the gun from their computer chair without (most of them) having actually shot it quite a bit.

It's awesome! I have a few hundred rounds through mine and it's been flawless. Great size and weight, very comfortable, and in an IWB holster I forget it's there.

It's so much fun to shoot, get one, you wont regret it!
