    Freedom munitions 9mm setback situation

    Edit: 115gr FM reloads.

Hey guys, so I just received around 500rds of 9mm and I inspected all of it and came across two that seem sketchy. Seems like there might be a slight QC issue over there atm. Should I send them a msg about it or just salvage these rounds for the materials?

The one on the right is the normal length and the two to the left are the ones I'm talking about.

They seem like the PSA of ammo lately.

You mean the ammo in general or the setback ones?

What are the overall lengths? SAAMI specs range from a 1.169" max to a 1" minimum. What powder and how many grains are they using in the cases? Also what grain are the bullets themselves? A 115gr bullet is going to not go as deep into the casings as much as a 147gr bullet. If these are a 147gr and the powder is closer to the max load while set back to the minimum 1" overall length then I would hesitate using them, but if you don't feel comfortable then definitely don't use them.

They're 115gr but I'm not sure what kind of powder they use. I don't have a caliper on hand to measure the length though.

I posted this in the Glock 42 thread where the OP was having problems with Freedom Munitions in his Glock.

I have a friend that bought 2,000 rounds of new 5.56 from Freedom Munitions. Many of the primers are recessed and the firing pin can't give it a good strike. He has about a 20% failure rate over the first 1,000 rounds. Even the ones that don't have recessed primers have about a 10% failure rate because the primers are duds. It's driving him nuts and I keep telling him he needs to contact Freedom Munitions. It's unacceptable.

After his experience and the many other bad experiences in this thread, I'm glad I never bought any ammo from them.

Oh no.....Freedom is my designated vendor when I do a team shoot, plus, I just ordered 250 rounds of .223 and 200 rounds 5.56mm. Hopefully they'll be able to sort out their QC issues. Keeping my fingers crossed I won't have problems with this batch of order.

I've never had problems with Freedom Munitions, but I did find one round set back in the couple hundred I have purchased. They aren't cheap enough for me to justify buying over other brands.

You should be OK if their stuff is normally good. My friend bought his 2K a couple months ago.
