Completely agree... Love calguns but most of the classified prices are ridiculous, do you really think your gun is worth 95% of new? Eg I got a glock 36 with 4 magazines for 400 on armslist... It would have been listed at 550 here! I could make a job of flipping guns from reasonable used gun venues to calguns!

Why even ask when it was said "No trades"?
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

I figure most people will know within a few hundred rounds if they want to keep a gun or not. The only gun I've sold only had about 400 rounds through it before I knew I'd rather sell it off and buy something that I'd enjoy more.

My favorites WTS posts are the S&W 500s. "only 4 rounds through it"..couldn't even make it all the way around the wheel before they made the decision...

It's not worth it to me to save $50 buying used when compared to a new or the sellers that push 'youre saving the taxes by buying mine'. I buy new and have a fresh gun and no warranty issues if those arise. I used gun has to be a deal or a rare hard to find item.

I also am amused when sellers come off kind of testy, as in "Please don't waste my time". OK, I won't.

Many guns/accessories sit on the shelf 6mo or longer before a buyer comes along, but low and behold the shop makes money, or has a sale and makes less money, but still makes a profit in time. You don't see a shop selling a gun for half price and losing money just because they haven't sold it in a few months.

It may take months for a buyer to come along for a private party sale firearm, especially something that's a collector or not your standard Glock/AR/AK etc. If the seller isn't in dire need for $ then there is no harm in listing it for the price he wants and keeping the thread bumped so it might catch the eye of someone browsing the first couple pages of the classifieds. Furthermore, bargain hunters are on here by the thousands so many people list the firearm a bit over what they actually want to leave some room for negotiation, it's pretty common and smart.

"Going back in the safe" is just a polite way to let people know you're going to stop logging into Calguns to see if you have interest. Not everyone logs in here frequently or wants to deal with lowballer PM's.
              Well said...

I've got a couple of S&W's that have been getting bumped for a while, but they are special cases. I've had a few PM's with "You're price is too high, I'd buy it if you came down." I reply, "If you can find a LNIB pre-lock, pinned barrel 14-4, in California, for less, then go for it man!"

Or, "One just sold on GB for less, and it was just like yours." I reply, "Then that means there is one less LNIB pre-lock, pinned barrel 14-4 on the market and that makes mine worth more."

Some listings aren't for your run-of-the-mill Glock, S&W, AR/AK, etc. I had several recent rifle listings go for more than my CG asking price on GB, and that's with the buyer paying for shipping! Even with GB's seller's fees I came out ahead. I wanted to keep those pieces in CA, but it just didn't work out. I bumped them like crazy. Oh well. C'est la vie!

You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

haha, you would be testy too if your wife was making you sell one of your guns.

i always laugh at the "back to the safe" comment. its like these people think the sale of this gun was such a missed opportunity that they are going to gloat that it isnt for sale anymore.

the other is the person who puts an end date on their product by stating, going back in the safe 6/22! its like they didnt plan their living costs accordingly and need money one day but will say forget it the next week when they get paid.

                  utter retardation.

You're biased in my opinion. 100 is for a single shot. I'm talking a private party transfer, no sales tax, no roster/sse issues.

My used glock 36 that went for 400 on armslist would be posted by someone like you for 550 here! Yes, it's a free country, and you're free to ask high prices and get stupid people to take you up on it. That doesn't make it ethical. I would never buy a used gun at more than 80% of new price... And I would never post a price beyond that either if I we're selling.

Damn! some of the members here are awesome!!

That's why I like buying used on Calguns!! I get to pay just as much and get all the benefits of buying from a store.. Like if something goes wrong, I can take it back to the seller and have him exchange or ship it back in for me.. Or give me credit on another one of his guns.. or help me talk to the manufacturer..

Oh, i might be smoking crack by the way..

My local gun classifieds are very similar, the stuff that is priced right always goes quick.

2 pages and NO ONE has mentioned "Custom"?

Every other gun sold on Calguns is "Custom"

Custom Paint Job (that I did myself, in the backyard, with a spray can)
Custom AR (that I bought all the parts off the shelf and assembled)
Custom Grips (That i bought off the shelf and put on)

Rare and Custom are the 2 that get my laugh most often.

I generally prefer PM's because I like to be as fair as possible in regards to the order in which people contact me.

It can be a pain if someone posts "i'll take it" in the thread but someone PM's me and I perhaps give the sale to that person. Then the person who made the post gets upset since "he posted first".

It's ultimately not that big of a deal but for me, it's easier to keep track of offers etc etc when it's just contact via PM's.

Not really worried about free bumps.

Been hunting for a rifle for a while now...there are 2 listed on Calguns all of a sudden. If I could find a local dealer to sell me a new one I would buy it but my local dealer said he could not get it (translation: could not be bothered, its a new gun he can get it). I think the prices for the 2 are high, they both say no offers, been on the fence over a month on them because of the price, its too close to a new gun price. Sure with taxes, etc. the new gun is more but then you get that new gun smell

I will likely drive the 3 hours TWICE to get one of these, going to hate that drive.
