    Sig p220

Hello everyone, I just got a call from a friend that knows someone selling a sig p220. My first handgun was a p226 equinox 8 years ago and never had a issue with it, so I'm ready to add the p220 to the collection but don't know what to offer the guy.

    Package:
    - Sig p220 (less the 100rds purchased a year ago)
    - Surefire x300 light
    - 4 boxes (20rd each) .45 gold dot
    - 4 boxes (20rd each) .45 winchester pdx1 defender
    - 3 boxes (50rds each) winchester whitebox

This gun is not somthing I need or on my list of must haves, however if the price Is right, I wouldn't mind adding it to the collection. So what you guys think this package is worth?

    Thanks in advance

I believe it's only the standard model with black finish.

i suggest you find out if the P220 has an internal or external extractor. the early P220 with stamped slide has an internal extractor and no major problems that are extractor related have been associated with this variant. some of the P220 offerings with milled stainless slide and internal extractor have had some problems reported with reliability. not all of these milled stainless slide P220 examples with internal extractors have had problems, but enough that you need to be aware that there were problems, and not with an easy fix. the changeover to an external extractor on the milled stainless slide P220 appears to have been a good one for the reliability of the P220.

regarding value, assess the value of the P220 independently of the extras and then go from there; it's a math problem and the proper way to add up the figures will be to list them separately and then look at the deal as a whole afterward; personal opinion.

overall condition of the gun is of paramount importance; if the gun's condition isn't satisfactory to you, who cares about the extras? how many magazines are included and of what make? i personally stick with OEM factory mags and Mec-Gar; personal preference. is the original factory box and papers/manual included? of course, pictures would be most beneficial to others that would like to assist you with value.

Inspect the alloy rails for silver showing wear through the hard anodizing that may indicating galling that may be a result of insufficient grease applied in the area to prevent it.

Find out the model first. Some pictures will go a long way. As others have stated don't worry about the "package deal." The condition on the pistol should excite you more than the accessories and ammo. I would stay away from most other magazine brands except the Factory 8rd or 10rd stainless steel ones. Does it have night sights? If so factory or were they installed at a later date. I bought my new full size Nitron finish 220 in late 2011 and paid $805 OTD. He really should give you a starting offer.

Thanks for the info everyone, I just asked my friend to have the guy send me more info on which version the 220 is and send some close up pictures. I'll update once I get the info and hopefully I can get a price from the guy.

Thanks, I'm still waiting to hear back from him. I'm not even sure how many mags are included.

The X300 alone is $200, $350-$400 in ammo, good price on a new P220 $800. $1400ish new total

I'd offer $1000-$1100 if it was me

buy the P220 you will like it, a perfect companion to the P226. The figure above $700-800 is right where used Sigs are usually priced.

I have two newer Sigs with short external extractors and have had no issues.
The long extractor on the M11-A1 did have problems until I replaced it with a new one and new springs.
he German made ones with the internal extractors have run perfectly for me for years.
