Anyone have any experience with the CZ SP-01 Shadow Target Custom? Is it worth the money? Where can I find one?

The Shadow Target has the LPA dovetail with TRT champion rear sight which is adjustable for windage/elevation serrated for anti glare and red fiber optic front sight. Fast target acquisition with this sight picture. The slide stop has been reprofiled to take longer oal cartridges. The barrel is highly polished especially on the locking lugs and feed ramp. On both Shadow Targets out of the box I still felt some grit in the trigger pull from machining marks on some of the fcg so I further polished the sear, sear cage, and trigger bar which made for a slick grit free trigger pull. The lack of the firing pin block also allowed for the shortest reset when I converted it to SAO but also aids in a smoother trigger pull in DA/SA. Converting it to SAO required only installing the CZ straight trigger since it already had a comp hammer and no fpb. If kept in DA/SA configuration you can remove the SA take up by installing a short reset kit and CGW disconnector. Then you can remove the over travel by adjusting the set screw with new version 85C trigger it comes with. I like the wider ambi safeties as a thumb rest and better purchase when engaging and disengaging. The extended slide release is nice but pretty close to the safety so I had to get used to this. It has a full length steel guide rod for extra weight and 11lb recoil spring which makes it easier to press check and rack the slide. One of the Shadow Target frames was used as a base for a 5.4" Tactical Sport slide. The slim aluminum grips with the grip tape give good traction and a single stack feel to the width of the grip. The trigger guard is undercut and the up swept beavertail will allow you hand for a very high grip. I prefer the extra weight the railed dust cover adds for less muzzle flip in rapid fire. This is probably my favorite variation of the SP-01.Last edited by CAGLS; 06-14-2014, 11:59 PM.Comment

I thought all Shadow Targets were done at CZ Custom. No? Doesn't CZ Custom take a regular Shadow, then install the sights, do a trigger job, etc... to make a Shadow Target?Comment

Good question. I figured since the grips were different than the one on CZ Customs website that the one I bought was different. HahaComment

It was a PPT. Only came with Pistol and cheap pistol pouch. After digging around the internet, mine is one from CZ Custom. They used the coco bolo grips on the older shadow target models.Comment
