    9mm 1911

I have the hankering for a 9mm 1911 and wanted to get some opinions...

I was thinking of going the SSE route and getting a RIA Tactical 9mm or a STI Spartan 9mm and both seem like decent entry level options.

Springfield Armory also has a Loaded 9mm model which I believe is on the roster. Price is about 1k.

Anyone have an opinion on these 3 models, or can recommend others to consider?

Is it worth getting the Springfield over the STI Spartan?

Just DROSd a Citadel, slide was smooth and trigger was decent from the little bit I played with it at the shop. Basically a RIA with FCS.

I think the Kimber Stainless Target is still on the roster, I own one and it has been a flawless workhorse. I think just about any of the options you listed will work great.

No personal experience but I've also been looking at a full size 9mm 1911

I think the Springfield Range Officer deserves a good hard look. Can be had for around $700 poise SSE dros tax. Again haven't seen it in person but supposed to be fit like a TRP and has a match grade barrel.

The other one I've been looking at is a Dan Wesson pointman 9. But it's around 1400 and I am not sure it's worth the extra money vs modifying the range officer

Have to admit that if I didn't dislike target sights, I probably would have wen with the RO

The Spartan V 1911 9m is far above the quality of the RIA IMHO. I have the Spartan V, I looked heavily at the RIA. I made a much better decision by dropping the RIA as a selection.

IIRC, KImber also has a model in the 1k range that is on the roster, or, they did.

ps - DAS in Solana Beach gets in the Spartan V as an SSE on occasion.

FWIW I shot a 9mm Range Office which is supposed to be a notch below the loaded and I loved it. You can't go wrong with a Loaded.

I have a Springfield loaded and haven't had any issues with about 700 rds thru it. Only thing is, I wish the front strap was checkered but just recently added some grip tape until I can get it checkered. Definitely a nice shooter in your price range. You might also look into the Sig and I think S&W makes a 9mm or used too?

S&W makes a 9mm Pro with front strap checking at 30LPI. It's about $250 - $300 more than the Springfield loaded but that's about how much checking would cost you.

My understanding is the range officer is a step above the loaded in terms of fit with match barrel similar to a trp but doesn't have all the goodies of the loaded like night sights ambi safety serrations etc. I might be wrong though

I had the SA Loaded and sold it because I didn't enjoy shooting it as much as my TRP in .45. But when I did shoot it, I found it to be accurate and reliable.

For the price, it is hard to beat the RIA tactical. Accurate, decent trigger, and reliable. Fit and finish may not be as nice as others. But for an affordable 9mm 1911, its a good choice.

The spartan v in 9mm was one of my bucket list guns. But recently found an awesome deal on a RIA tactical. I love it. It's a great gun and goes perfectly with my RIA tac II in 45.

STI is awesome for sure but don't discount the RIA at all. It's a super gun.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

                              You want a 9mm 1911?

The correct answer here is to buy a Browning High Power.
So I was driving home from the range and I noticed that the scent of warm steel, burnt gunpowder and lukewarm coffee combined and smelled oddly of... Peanut butter?! Man, the Hoppe's is going to my head.
