    Gunsmith?

    Hi all,

Wondering if we have an actual gunsmith on this board? I'm interested in getting a couple of gun parts fabricated that will require some talent!

Is it possible to machine a barrel to a smaller size round, and copy a slide out of a lighter weight material (aluminum, or lighter alloy steel) to compensate for the smaller charge?

I'm hoping this can be done, not too expensively to start, but I think on the other forum there would be some interest. I would have to lay the groundwork first which is what I'm doing now!

Please let me know and I'll work with you on the specs.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Might be easier to sleeve the existing barrel and mill off as much mass as you can from the steel slide.
