DW heritage vs STI Trojan +others/Where Can I Try

Once I finish my immediate purchasing, I might have a little funding left for the year:

    If $1200 or less
Dan Wesson Heritage (RZ-45) vs STI Trojan vs EAA/Tanfoglio Witness Elite in .45 (recommend a trim level).

    If much more $
Sphinx 3000 (don't think the Sphinx SDP Production line will be out soon enough) vs Sig X5 (standard version).

or 3-4 cheaper pistols that I don't want as much per se (as some would be duplicates) but I would enjoy none the less. they would also be slightly more practical for me vs just having 1 nicer gun. (think ppq, m&p, shield, etc).

Feedback and/or please let me know if there are any shops in Southern CA (preferably OC) where I can hold or try these.
    ----------------

Between the DW and STI, people seem split 50/50 on different 1911 forums with various feedback, so I'm hoping there is a shop somewhere that have these in stock to try back to back. Even better if I can try these beside a standard Colt or Springfield Trophy Match, TRP, or Loaded - I've tried all of these individually except for the STI before.

For the Tanfoglio, does anyone recommend a particular trim or is there one that offers better value than the rest? I know the cheapest Witness Elite starts around 500/550. I have not tried one of these before and but have heard/read things here and there. Not considering a cz97b

For the S3000 vs X5, both are holy grail guns for me. The P210 not as much but there is definitely a "wow" factor to it for me.

Do a search for indoor ranges and call them. None are what I would think would be common except maybe the Dan Wesson.

    Good luck,

Yes, unfortunately these aren't readily available in stores most of the time. Between the shops I've been to before, I haven't seen a single one with any of the above in stock except for a few DW 1911s at turners in chino hills. This was before dw switched to their current lineup (and possible roster changes since then).

The best thing you can hope for is a calgunner in your area who has the gun will step up and help you out. I've never seen a range that offers pistols that has never been on the roster for rental. It might be a legal thing (not sure).

I've seen the Trojan at DAS in San Diego, perhaps another SSE shop can at least let you handle one. Maybe reach out to EBR Works? I haven't seen SSE pistols at any range I have been to either.

For what its worth- I have a Dan Wesson Specialist and a STI Lawman (9mm). I love them both and both have been excellent guns. I think you would be happy with either the DW or STI. I don't have experience with EAA.

The shop at Oak Tree Gun Club had a DW PM7 when I was there a few weeks ago to do a PPT.

If you're in San Diego, last time I checked Direct Action Solutions had a DW Heritage on Display for $1,3xx.xx.

Call Iron Sights in Oceanside. They have some higher end 1911's for rent.
