    Normal Wear on P226?

Sorry for the bad pictures. This is with my Phone.

Is this abnormal wear on the slide where the barrel is inserted?

It feels sharp, almost looks like it was machined after anodizing.

Where the barrel locks up against the slide.

I noticed after one session at the range (p226 was well greased) that it showed noticeable wear in certain areas of the barrel and base of the slide. Apparently its normal.

How old is that gun? My tan P227 has the newer version of the Cerakote... and it seems strong.

it may have not fit that great and was found during a QC inspection so they fixed it.

I say that because it looks too rough to be normal wear

At first I thought you were referring to the notch in the dustcover that allows the barrel to tilt.

If you are referring to the angle of the hole through the slide for the barrel, that is normal. The hole is bored at an angle to lock up the front of the barrel when it is in battery...that is why the barrel isn't centered in the hole.

The slide contacts the barrel lower on the bottom than on the top...that is why your barrel smilies aren't even

Are you're talking about the bevel in the bottom /crown of the hole? If so my p226 does not have that,, mine is completely square 1000 + rounds

It's a 1998 West German if that makes a difference

Thanks for the replies. I'm feeling more confident regarding this surface.

I'm referring to the muzzle exit portion of the slide where the barrel locks up (Thanks Sig Marine for the desc.)

even though not the same gun you are referring to. my Bereta that I have had for 20+ years has some wear on the slide and none wear your Sig has. it's a bit looser fit but it is in great shape.

you should be fine. enjoy the pistol.

                            That's a normal wear point for a p226.
