    MRD on a pistol?

    Hello, my fellow Calgunners!

Wanted to get your opinion on putting a micro/min red dot mounted on your target pistol (not HD/SD) but a range gun.

HK USP 45 or Glock 21 SF.

Is there companies that can do a cut out for a RMR/FF3/LDP and provide a cover plate when not using a MRD?

I understand that M&P Core and FNX 45 TAC provide the cover when not using a MRD.

    Any input/recommendations/pictures are greatly appreciated!

L and M precision gun works. They have the option of the cover plate and from my reading they mill and add MRDs to various pistols.

I ended up sending my M&P slide to ATEi for a RMR install, but in doing my research. L&M got very high praises from various forums

    Good luck!

I have had Mark Housel of L&M do 2 of my Caspian 9mm slides melted for Delta Points. Mark is involved in the ATOM series of Holo melting on Glocks. Mark was involved in that before smith brought the core series out. The Atom line is interesting since it involved an interface dedicated to different sighting options for one gun type. Yes, just like the Core series.
HK may have an issue with melting the slide enough to make a difference. This could be due to just how that series is manufactured and where key internal components lay under the exterior top area of the slide. Glock is a no brainer. Glockworx offers slide melting for specific Holos. They incorporate threaded screw towers that may help locate the holo and help maintain zero. Many now offer slide melts for Glocks.
As for the value. I have 5 handguns done this way. I am in my 50s and without a doubt my holo use allowed me an insane amount of accuracy now with double action only guns. I can not overstate the value and enjoyment of this system.
Not that hard to acclimate to it at all. Very easy to start picking up the dot readily.
I teach firearms training. I have yet had a student who shot one of my handguns not be amazed at how easy it was to shoot with greater accuracy their own gun.
I am running Leupolds, Burris Fast Fires 2s and 3s, and one Trijicon RMR. All of mine are of the smallest dots. Around 3 moa.
I love my Trijicon RMR06 series, but will more than likely buy the new Delta 2s which feature adjustable brightness and removable battery without removing sight.
Burris have this feature. But Burris also sit quite high. Burris are an excellent value and have the features of what the new Leupolds will have.
You should be able to get into a Burris 3 with mount for your handgun for under $300.
Without a doubt the very best investment for my money. This sighting enhancement for me keeps on giving back to me like nothing else has as it relates to accuracy.
Plus, many who shoot with dots will tell you that it will make you a better open sight shooter. It has for me.
      Your mileage may vary..........

Great question and I hope you go for it....
