Essential Tool/Maintance Kit?

Just did the paper work on my first firearm today! In ten days I get to pick up a brand new CZ75 SP01

That being said, I now need to invest in all the "other" stuff. What would Calguns say is essential - big or small - to have in any firearm tool bag, maintenance kit, or just in general? Since I'm a noob, links and brands/models would be super useful.

What I could think of:

• Gun oil/lube (brands?)
• Rags
• Lula loader?
• Cleaning mat? (Like this, but I haven't found one for the SP-01)
• Punch (what sizes?)

FWIW, I can see myself doing mods but first I want to get the CZ and get to learn it before tuning it.

I started off with what I could grab at the store, I never bothered checking online until I started well into shooting. But what I started off was with;

Rags - I used an old shirt and cut it down to round 1 inch pieces
Cleaning mat -was what was left over of the cut up shirt haha

Your tool collection will naturally grow as your gun addiction grows. 1911's and AR's particularly, seem to lead to punches, hammers, specialty wrenches, etc.

My rule for tools is the same as my rule for guns...I view them both as tools. But quality. Spend the extra $$ up front. A good quality tool should last a lifetime if taken care of properly.

I've never seen a "good" cleaning kit. Get a couple of good quality rods, brushes and jags. Don't use hardware store screwdrivers. Brownell's has quality, hollow ground blades that come with a lifetime warranty.

Midway's range bags are probably the best for the money. I have a huge one that I think I only paid $40 for. You could spend a lot more one something that does the same thing. Depending on how many guns you plan on acquiring (it will be more than you're thinking), you might want a larger bag even if it doesn't make sense now.

• Brass rod
• jags
• Cleaning patches
• Brass brush
• Nylon bristle cleaning brush
• Cleaning solvent
• Range bag
• Cotton tipped applicators/q-tips

bore snake, maybe extra mags, ammo, magazine holster, hops oil, ripped up tee shirts, safety glasses, ear protection, the fancy target stickers, magupula , pointed q-tips, ski mask, gloves, and a hat

Why do I get a feeling that you and I are into different kinds of "hobbies" ?
