    need info on gun legality

I just bought a Walther PPQ M2...... this gun holds more than 10 rnds...I realize this is not legal in Ca. My questions..? Can this gun be registered to my 22 year old son if shipped to a gun dealer minus the clips..... if I can get a clip in Ca. wich holds less than 10 rnds is the gun legal in Ca..? If it is in my sons name with a legal capacity mag in it is it accepted as a legal gun/ clip combo in Ca.? If the gun and ten rnd clip are not legal is it a misdemeanor or felony to posses it in Ca.? Is a PPQ M2.40 cal 10 rnd gun legal to any one other than law enforcement in Ca.? Can gun and 10 rnd clip be "grandfathered" to my son in Ca. Any suggestions on getting this gun to my son legally in Ca.

    Thank You

Your son needs to call his local gun stores to see if they will accept a "interstate intrafamilial transfer."

Yes it is legal for him to possess the non-rostered firearm this way, no you can not send him the standard capacity magazines (not clips, not clips, not clips.) If they were permanently blocked to 10 rounds then yes, but it would be best if the receiving FFL had a high capacity magazine permit and did the permanent blocking.

    Edit:
    1. Can this gun be registered to my 22 year old son if sipped to a gun dealer minus the clips.....
    Yes

    2. if I can get a clip in Ca. witch holds less than 10 rnds is the gun legal in Ca..?
    Yes

    3. If it is in my sons name with a legal capacity mag in it is it accepted as a legal gun/ clip combo in Ca.?
The gun would be legal, Yes.

    4. If the gun and ten rnd clip are not legal is it a misdemeanor or felony to posses it in Ca.?
Gun is legal, standard capacity magazines is a felony

    5. Is a PPQ .40 cal 10 rnd gun legal to any one other than law enforcement in Ca.?
    Yes

    6. Can gun and10 rnd clip be "grandfathered" to my son in Ca.
    No

    7. Any suggestions on getting this gun to my son legally in Ca.
Best way is as I described above. Your son finds FFL willing to accept "interstate intrafamilial transfer." You read the information from the link I posted and make sure you understand process. You contact your son's FFL and follow their instructions to the letter.
