    Question about CZ Custom

Got a question about CZ Custom guns. If the base gun they use is on roster, is it exempt from SSE or is it considered a "different gun"?

What is the specific model of the base gun and the model of the completed modified custom gun? Do they change the part number after modification? I'd call them to ask.

      Posting for interest.

However, when I spoke with czc and what I vaguely recall from a year or two ago at lgs, I believe the items must come in a stock configuration (with the exception if sights maybe). I don't know if czc were 100% sure themselves, I recall them saying to that effect.

I'm imagining that it would be considered a different gun. I mean, it's the CA DOJ, why wouldn't it be? It's perfectly legal to buy a base P-01 and send it to CZC to be modified into a PRO TEK II, but I'm sure the CA DOJ would say it would be illegal (starting in 2015 when SSE is likely gone) to buy the same finished product directly from CZC.

Yeah it sucks. You have to buy it, DROS/Transfer it to get ownership of the stock pistol and then send it back to them for changes, rather than save shipping and other costs and have them just do all the work in the first place before sending it. Thanks CA!

            Yup, this.

I was planning on buying a gun from them and having them do the trigger work and sending it to a local FFL. But apparently that would violate the roster so you have to DROS the gun then send it to them. I wonder if it would apply to SSE guns though.

As long as they are willing to ship to CA, it shouldn't have an effect on SSE, but I did notice that on several of their custom guns, they have in big bright red letters "Not for sale to CA Not on DOJ Approved List"

Just buy the on roster base gun then ship it to your FFL. Once you dros it and get it out of jail then send it back to them to do the rest of the modifications. Any modifications done to the gun after dros doesn't matter unless they make it full auto . If there isn't anything done to the frame then you could just swap the slide. If there are mods done to the frame then send the whole thing in and have them complete the mods.

If you can't get all the work done there before they ship it, make sure to look at Cajun Gun Works as an alternative place to send your newly DROSed stock pistol, since you have to send it somewhere anyway.
