Considering the popularity of glock-type pistols, I'd say the PPX is a low-buck gun that Californians are missing (even if it is hammer fired).

Not many low-buck DA/SA options in CA, Bersa's thunder pro series is probably the best brand equity among the low market players (though I also dig the zastava cz99), that's another sub-$500 option, metal and da/sa for those types of buyers.
