Which 1911 model???

I have a friend that is thinking of purchasing a 1911 style hand gun. He was thinking about purchasing either a kimber SIS, a Springfield Champion Operator or a Para Super Hawg. Which one do you folks think is the better choice? I have no idea and wanted your opinions, thanks!

Either KImber or Springfield. Nothing against Para, but I heard of a lot of hit and miss.

It depends what he wants to do with it.

I had the same difficult choice late last year.

I choose Kimber based on what it would cost to get front serrations if it didn't have it.

No matter how good a trigger is, a gunsmith trigger job will blow your mind away. Crisp, lighter, shorter,

Magwell, safeties (ambi) and so on.

At the end I concluded the Kimber could be modified to my hearts content with the least amount of money invested.

Otherwise I would have got a Springfield 38 super crome and plain or a Smith and Wesson laser 1911.

Look into trigger designs, Kimbers cost around $125 to $150 to modify

some of the others are at least double that. If memory serves me well for the smith and wesson 1911 all my quotes for trigger jobs were $300 range.

Unless this is out of state or some sort of LEO exemption he's not going to find a Champion Operator. They aren't on the party approved list.

If I could get one in this state at a reasonable price I'd do it right quick, sweet gun.

I'd say your friend needs to go to a gunstore and handle those guns since they will feel very different from one to another. He may also want to check the DOJ list if he is in California since more than one of his choices won't be available here.

My friend is indeed in a free state, lucky bastard As far as the pistol is concerned I guess I'll tell him to handle each one and see which one he likes best. Perhaps I'll lean him towards the Champion Operator a bit more. Thanks for the input.

If he's out of state he should really consider STI or the Kimber Warrior.

Ed Brown Pistols work real well for me. I have never had a problem with them.

all three are good guns... my personal preferance if the Kimber..., but I'm biased, I own 3.

If Kimber get the TLE (all you really need), not the SIS, IMHO its too gimmicky. The Springfield operator would be great too.

Kobra Carry is the best commander size 1911 in my opinion. The S&W PD commander is also very good, but doesn't have the bobbed tail for easier carry.
