    Sig Sauer USA quality ?

So I've seen a a few post of people saying Sig USA sucks guns are junk you need to get a German one but never see any reasoning behind it just that they are worthless. I personally have three Sigs all US made P226, P238 and SP2022. The only issue I had was on the p238 7rd magazine I bought wouldn't lock the slide back sent it back to Sig and replaced with a new working model. All my guns have been perfect though no issues and fit and finish appear to be spot on. So what's the deal is there something I'm missing? Do I need glasses?I would just like to know the reasoning other than because German Sigs are better. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1400422963.561518.jpg

There are a few MIM parts on the USA ones.....big deal. I'm staring SSE on my second USA one on Tues. I'll then have a 227 and 226, both made in USA.

Have you ever had a German Sig? Once a guy named Cohen, who ran Kimber and started give them a bad name, took over Sig USA , they started to take shortcuts/cost cut. MIM parts, the fit and finish was nowhere near as good as the German models. If you think the fit and finish is good on the US guns, the German ones were that much better. Those are just a few things. There is a reason why the German made guns still command a premium, there is a very tangible difference.

Cohen is all about profit not quality. While the USA guns work fine, the German ones are a step up in finishes (ilaphon) instead of nitride. Hope I spelled those words correctly.

German Sigs had tighter slide to frame fit, much like the X-5,6 series is tighter than the regular production guns. Also, back in 2002 or so Sig had issues with soft slides. I had several West German P226's, a P226 Sport Stock (Made in Germany), a P226 ST and a P220ST. Both the 226 ST, the 220 ST and Sport Stock were purchased around 2002-2004 The ST's peened badly around the firing pin channel from the hammer impact. I sent both guns back and they replaced the slides with, you guessed it, more soft slides that peened badly. Later on Sig spot heat treated that area of the slide (evidenced by discoloration) and there were no more peening issues. The Sport Stock did not peen. It was as tight as my P210 too and actually outshot it.

The in bold is my experience as well. That being said, I've never had a problem or even heard of a legitimate problem with the American made SiG's.

Thanks for the responses just always been curious what the reasoning was since no one ever seems to elaborate on why they prefer one over the other I think I'll have to hunt a German one down maybe add it to my collection can't ever have enough guns.

That sums up my experiences with my multitude of Sigs as well.

No problem with my USA Sig. Heck! even mosquito shoots flawlessly although some will argue.

Honestly, I think some of the Sig USA hating is done by people that just don't like Sigs. They prefer another manufacturer and it is the normal brand bashing that goes on in the forums.

Anyway, there is a slight different between German and US made Sigs. The latter are fine now, with the occasional hiccups that all mass produced goods are prone to have. There was a time when the quality gap was much more significant. The old German Sigs also had the advantage of being made during a time when high production rate and corporate profits took a back seat to quality. And production relied more on the experience of skilled craftsmen instead of the cold eye of machines. Blame it on capitalism, greed and progress.

I've shot both German and US Sigs, and to tell you the truth they are both fine. California compliant SIGs with the LCI and Mag Disconnect on the otherhand...
