sig p228 removed from the "list" - will it return?

It's highly unlikely that the SIG P-228 will be renewed/placed back on the list, since SIG discontinued it several years ago.
The SIG P-229 in 9x19mm is what replaced the SIG P-228 for civilian sales.sigpic

What list are you referring too? The California "Safe non Evil Genocidal Nanny State Protect You From Yourself" Rostered Handgun list, or Sig's list of fine firearms? The 228 has been unavailable from Sig for several years now. As mentioned, it has been replaced by the 229.sigpicComment

You don't know how unsafe the two tone model was. I nicked the slide of my P228 and that was enough for it to try to leap out of my hands and shoot 10 baby seals

Whats the difference between the p228 and p229?Comment

228 is a stamped slide with a pinned firing pin block, the 229 is a machined stainless steel slide. Not sure if there is much difference in the frames. Also, AFAIK the 228s were all German manufactured while the 229s (sold here at least) are US manufactured.sigpicComment

I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

For the life of me, I still can't see how the DOJ can legally get away with this Handgun Roster program. Seems to me, if a handgun has been approved at one point with no major mechanical change, why does that manufacturer have to pay an annual fee to prevent that model from dropping off the list? I also don't understand how a finish, whether it's stainless steel or blued should make a difference.
This is just a stupid law that makes very little sense...and fairly obvious way for this state to force manufacturers to pay for doing business here. Or, for DOJ to eventually make it too inconvenient for civilians to import any gun.
"Effective January 1, 2001, no handgun may be manufactured within California, imported into California for sale, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered/exposed for sale unless that handgun model has passed firing, safety, and drop tests and is certified for sale in California by the Department of Justice. Private party transfers, curio/relic handguns, certain single-action revolvers, and pawn/consignment returns are exempt from this requirement."Comment
