In the market for a new glock. I'm really liking the G41 and the G30s. What would you choose?

G41 or G30s
67Glock 410%32Glock 30s0%35"...... to disarm the people - that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." - George Mason -Tags: None -
Totally different guns, depends on your need? If CCW, 30s, if HD or target punching, 41. I have a 30s and it is going on my LTC permit. -
Well I ready have a G21 for home defense and range shooting and I already have a G27 and G23 on my ccw. I would use ethier gun for their intended purpose."...... to disarm the people - that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." - George Mason -Comment

Totally depends on how you think the new gun will fill your niche. In my personal opinion, I would do the following...
- First choice would be to get the G41 and sell the G21 (especially if it's a Gen 3.... just saying, nothing against them), so you at least get some cash back to offset the purchase. Then use the G41 for HD and range shooting, since it's similar to a G21 but setup better for range/competition shooting. However, if you can afford both then keep both, but they're pretty close in comparison and IMO wouldn't be worth it to have both.
- Or, if you're heavily into CCW'ing and that is a big thing for you, then get the G30S and enjoy shooting that. Maybe selling either the G27 or G23 to again offset the purchase and recoup on the costs at bit. However, I don't know how you would feel about only have one .40 gun and two .45 guns, but again that's your decision to make. Likewise, if you can afford the G30S and keep the .40 pistols, then that's the best of both worlds.
Just some food for thought.Comment

For HD, target shooting, competition - G41.
For CCW - G30s. If you can conceal a G19, you can conceal a G30s. Obviously heavier, though.
Don't have the 41 (yet), but have the 30s and love it.Last edited by n2stackin; 05-08-2014, 9:14 AM.Gun Owner / NRA MemberComment

If it was me... I would get the 41...
It's what the G21 should have been long ago... I love my 21 gen2 but a more svelte thinner 45 would be a nice change in the glock format.
The G30s is a chunky little gun but it is a great shooter I've owned one... Never enjoyed it for carry however so I sold it...
Which seems odd as I can conceal the 21 nearly as easily as my G19. Perhaps I like the 21/19 & 36 vs the 30 because I have large hands and I get a full grip on them... and combination of thick/short grip on the 30s wasn't a good fit. To each their own if you can get all 4 fingers on the 30s then that may make a difference. I can't.
A G21 vs. G41 the 41 would be that much thinner in the slide which prob won't make a lot of difference but I found in comparison between the Glock 30 vs the 36 that the 36 while just a little thinner was so much more comfortable to carry and easy to pull as I had all 4 fingers on the grip While I'd prefer 11 rounds in the 30 the 36 with 7 rounds is plenty the gun is lighter and an extra semi single stack 36 mag is easier to carry.
Everything is a trade off and what works for one won't always for another...
I prefer the Glock 36 for CCW.
But if I had a 41 and could mod my permit... I prob would...
So get the 41 something new to enjoy and brag about LOL!

Different purposes to the gun. Figure out what purpose is most important to you, and get the relevant gun.
For me...G41. I like long-slide guns, and a G30s is too bulky to LTC relative to other choices. My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.Comment

I don't use my handguns in shooting games so I voted 30s. I handled a G41 last Saturday and almost bought one until I rationalized that since I don't play games, it really wouldn't bring anything more to the table that my Gen4 G21 does. I would like to add a .45 ACP gun to my CCW rotation. Since I find the Gen4 G21 too large for that role, I voted 30s. But they are kinda hard to find.Comment

Id get a regular G30. And I just did
I dont think the extra concealment of the slide of the 30S is worth the increased recoil you will feel. But thats just me going off of reviews Ive read, I HAVE NOT shot the 30S. I have shot the 30 and love it so I figured why mess with something that aint brokeUnless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail.
