9mm Commander

I'm looking for a Commander type 1911 pistol in 9mm. Looked on the DOJ list and found no such animals listed. Can I buy a used one from a private party out of state or do I have to find a private party in CA?

Pretty sure you'd have to find a private party in CA. An out of state gun would have to be on the roster. You could also order a Kimber Pro Carry HD II in 38 Super, which is on the list, and get a 9mm barrel for it.

A pro carry will be 4" instead of the 4.25".

To find a colt commander in 9mm, it'll have to be via PPT. I dream of a DW 9mm CBOB. Mmm...

Kimber 5in stainless is on the list

The word commander is used interchangeably to indicate both 4in or 4.25 in, of which the later is technically correct.

The only 1911 9mm on the list is the Kimber in 5in.

Also, you can easily convert Kimbers 4in 38super to shoot 9mm.

Kimber Ultra CDP II is in 9MM now too. Not commanded though.

Not Commander sized, but I believe you can add the Springfield Loaded in 9mm to the list (Model PI9134L (ambi safety) / Stainless Steel ) ?

The good thing about 1911s is you can buy interchangeable barrels and slides in various lengths, depending on exact model.
If you want it bad enough, buy a 5 " and put a 4" top end on it. Just takes $.
