haha, yeah out with the RIA 1911 today, I really don't wanna pay $300 to install a new grip safety, hammer and sears, and so on, maybe I should bob it?

it sucks cause I flinch each shot cause I know its going to hurt and it does, my hand was throbbing in that area. I think my aim would better if I wasn't worried about the sting and bite.

Thoes look pretty good for 25yards I have seen much worse on the 15.
Was that rapid standing, or off the bench?

Man, bob that hammer. Ten minutes with a Dremel and some cold bluing, and that problem should completely disappear.

Yup..Been there and done that, this is about the only down side of that pistol.

I was thinking of mabe trying that liquid rubber and dip that sharp edge into it just to take that sharp edge off. When I was shooting for about an hour I felt like grinding the son of a gun right off! HAHA

The first handgun I ever purchased/shot was a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911 and I have never had that happen. I also was able to take my new Para Nitehawg out this last weekend and didn't have a problem with that one either. I know it's a common problem, but it doesn't really make sense to me. Is this just something that happens to people with bigger/smaller than normal hands? Different shooting techniques? Different stances? Maybe I'm just fortunate, but then again, chances are I am just holding it incorrectly...

the web of my hand is thick and rolls up behind the grip, and the hammer just slams down onto me on each shot, and yeah I do feel it, and it makes me unsteady each shot cause I now its going to hurt, and it stings more and more as it get more raw and abused, it was bleeding at the range and I had to stop and clean it and take a break.

Neo? These are different than a normal 1911. Shot both and these don't seem like they would bite ya but they do.

Alrigthy, shaved a bit of the spur down with the dremel, not much though, just so it stopped contacting skin when I push it back, I also got under the back of the tip so now when I hold it and check the pinching isn't there, blued it and hope it works better, at least limit the amount of bite if anything.
