S&W MP 9MM GRITTY TRIGGER TEST

My MP9 is so gritty you can hear it!!
Here is a video that showed me an easy test to check if the blocker safety is the problem for the "griity trigger"..a burr in the blocker bore is a very common cause for the gritty trigger..this test is easy and you can acually do it without taking off your slide, with the pistol fully assembled!!
This took more time for me to get my gun out of the safe then it did to test for the gritty trigger..it is amazing once I put a small pointer into the opening to access striker blocker, pressed up on the blocker safety and pulled the trigger the gritty feeling and sound was gone!!

The second video shows how to disassemle the pistol to remedy the burr in blocker bore.

I am not very savvy with taking apart my pistol, does anyone know of a gunsmith in Sacramento/Folsom area that could provide this service?

I haven't watched the video, but I've taken the M&P models apart and never had an issue with reassembly. You should learn to be savvy with your pistol, they aren't hard to work on, and will give you a better understanding of your firearm. If you are really mechanically-challenged, you can take it to a gunsmith, but there are plenty of aids out there via youtube to learn. Best of luck!

It's pretty easy to take an M&P apart, all that you really need are the right sized roll pin punch and a hammer, although some specialized tools make it a bit eaiser. But if you are going to go to that much trouble you may as well install a Apex Tactical Duty/Carry trigger upgrade kit (or have it installed). Anyway there are plenty of how-to youtube videos linked on Apex's site.

Just for clarity, it isn't a "blocker safety" or a "striker blocker"(from the video).

The part you are referring to is the Striker Block...the part that blocks the striker from moving forward unless the trigger is pressed to the rear

I am going to do the fix myself..already ran into first issue..I am trying to take off the rear site and the allen screw is too tight..allen wrench already giving..I read you can heat the screw up a bit to free it, but I am concerned about the round tab under the site that holds the spring for the striker block..is looks like it's plastic in the videos. Any other alternative to freeing this allen screw?

I had to use a small screwdriver kit that had the correct size hex bit. The bit is short, so you could apply more torque to it unlike an Allen wrench which just bends.

thanks for the get back..I tried to tap the site a bit and it was lose..slid down to where the round spring cover could be partially seen..then I was able to loosen set screw..guess I must have loosened it a bit..
took out blocker and rounded off and polished a bit..I could see some difference probably need to take off more..
