Updated Post Range trip/Sig M11-1A extraction problems.

My Sig M11-A1 that I purchased used is not extracting correctly (see thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=924162) It will every few rounds leave a fired case fully seated in the barrel.


I received my replacement extractor, in and outer extractor spring and extractor
retaining spring in todays mail.



I removed old parts installed the new ones in the M11-A1 slide:



I also have a 2nd 229 9mm complete top end that I will use as a comparison.
Additionally I have a 229 .40 top end that runs great on the M11-A1 frame.

I l'll have an extra 9mm barrel and spring and guide rod with me also if needed

I have both slides prepped and ready to go to the range, hope I can get there tonight if not will go tomorrow.

I will report on how the new extractor works and compare the two 9mm top ends and any other swapping of parts. I know you will ask so I didn't send it back to Sig because concerned about getting a off roster gun back into CA. Also I like to do my own work so that I can learn. It costs more and voids warranty's etc. but that's how I am. i will send it to Sig as a last resort.

I have had no problems with long extractors on .40 Sigs, but the short 9mm ones seem to work better than the long 9mm extractors.

fired case looks normal used new factory ammo FMJ 115g Fiocchi, S&B, Blazer Brass
and Nato 124g, Spear Gold Dot 147g. JHP. same problem with all.

Slide rails were lubed with TW25-b, other parts with Break Free CLP (slides pictured were cleaned of lubricant before pix).

Did you notice anything unusual with the extractor after racking the slide? Just wondering how far out or in the extractor when a cartridge is in the chamber.

Update after Range

It went very well at the range. M11-1 slide after extractor and spring replacement.

I put 150 rds. of FMJ and HP of various brands and bullet weights through it, and there were
no failures to feed or eject. Not a single problem.

Awesome! Sounds like it was the wrong extractor. Even Sig makes mistakes. Glad it worked out!

I would also maybe suggest posting this on the sig forum. The threads I saw regarding the same issue, some of the people/responses there seemed knowledgeable regarding the problem. Good luck on the repair!! Great looking pistol!
