    .40 cal conversion kit?

A buddy of mine was telling me how I can convert my Springfield XDS tactical .40 into a 357 or a 9mm. Is that possible to do and where and what would I have to buy to make it happen? Is this something you would be willing to do? Kinda low on funds to purchase a 9mm/357 dedicated

Is it worth it in the end?

Yes, it is possible with the XD series.
Storm Lake still makes conversion barrels for the XD.

PG is a good shop (little slow at times): http://www.pistolgear.com/products.php?id=59
I think midway stocks them as well.

Same thing, you will need 9mm magazine as well.

Oh, there is also a .22lr conversion kit from Advantage Arms now.

Does the barrel have to get serialized?

The frame is the only part of most handguns that needs the serial number, just like how only a AR lower needs the serial number.

As stated no, an aftermarket barrel does not require a serial number and neither does the slide.
It will ship directly to your home/shipping address, or mail it to me as a gift .

The factory XD slide & barrel are indeed serialized to match up with the frame, but it not needed as well.

                  Are they all aftermarket parts?

Yes, because Springfield does not sell conversion barrels.
