    Sig adjustable combat night sights.

Shot my new Sig 229 dark Elite yesterday. Love the little guy! But I was shooting about 6 inches low!!!

Anyone know which way I turn to raise my grouping on the elevation?

At first I thought it was me so I shot my Les Baer and I was dead on. So I think the sights are off on the Sig.

Minus the sight issue the little guy shot like a champ with zero malfunctions.

Lastly I'm not used to the 3 dot sights. I believe these are combat sights meaning my front dot needs to cover my target and not a 6 o clock sight picture. Yes?

I have 229, 226 and 220. I line up the front and rear sights straight covering the target from 5yd & 10 yd. Once in a while 15yd and rarely 20yd.

Yes. For sure not a six o'clock hold.

You are shooting 6" low because you are using the "standard" American sight picture (putting the bulls-eye on top of the front sight). Sig uses the European "combat" sight picture where the front dot completely covers the bulls-eye. You will be told by people who don't know any better that sigs are not set up this way, or that you are just flinching, but disregard their nonsense and make the proper adjustment to your sight picture. ALL sig P series pistols have been made this way, from the early German ones to the new American ones. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

        From Sig:

All SigSauer production duty/combat pistols are set up to use a "combat" sight picture. This is where the front sight completely covers the bulls eye of the target. Using a six o'clock ("pumpkin on a post") or center mass ("half'n'half") sight picture will result in low impact. SigSauer, Inc sights in all non-sporting and non-target pistols for 2.5 inch groupings @ 15 yards. If you are still having trouble please contact Customer Service for further help and instruction. Please have your serial number ready. There are also very helpful free Internet sites that cover pistol group analysis.http://www.sigsauer.com/CustomerService/Faq.aspx

This "European combat sight picture" is a crappy sight picture IMO. It doesn't transfer over from rifle sights or other pistol sights, and covering your target with the dot is not very precise when accuracy counts. I installed the Meprolight adjustable sights on my P220, adjusted them for the proper American sight picture, and couldn't be happier. I fell in love with Sig again after doing this.

Also, search the sig forums, many folks switch to a lower front sight to acquire the proper sight picture and maintain rugged fixed sights for CCW/duty use.

Sigs are absolutely some of the finest firearms made.....once you change the sights and install the SRT.

Thanks, desert dog but I'm using the proper sight picture for my sig. I adjusted my sights and it's shooting where I'm pointing now.

          Mine already came with SRT.

I have a P226 Dark Elite and I believe it has the same sights as on your P229 Dark Elite. The sights are much taller than on a regular P226 and it took me a while to adjust. As others have pointed out, the gun is designed to shoot with with sights completely covering the target, so if you're using a traditional sight picture you'll definitely be shooting low (how low will vary by how far away your target is).

Congrats on the new Sig, it's a great gun and the aluminum grips are awesome.
