9mm Shield to the range first time

I took my new Shield to the range for the first time this afternoon. It fits my hand perfect, I added Traction Grips last night, great purchase! went thru 100 rounds of Blazer Brass, then 300 rounds of Federal American Eagle, flawless performance,
I was a little concerned when I looked at my test casing that came with the shield, it showed the same bulging I had seen in forums, mine was test fired 3/25/14

but here are samples of the Blazer and Federal I went thru

    results from 25 feet

My shots were consistently low and to the left, I saw a diagram on here that said what that means, I need to find it. The front sight looks off center to me, but I am sure it is me not the gun

What do you think of the shell casing?

    Looks like Glocked brass.
Does that have an unsupported barrel.

is the silhouette man sized? I had groupings like that my first time too. Is this the smallest gun you own? Being new to subcompacts, I had to completely relearn how to hold and shoot with the shield. Getting better though, just takes practice.
      Have a good day!

Yeah, that was my issue too. My groupings were about the same…a bit of a surprise. I shoot my Glock 23C a lot better.

Heavier trigger plus thinner grip will cause most right handed shooters that are used to larger (height and width) grips to shoot low and left. I experienced the same issue transitioning from a Glock 17 to my XDS.
It gets better with practice and a proper grip adjustment.

ETA: keep in mind with the shorter sight radius accuracy can be less than that of a full size pistol. I don't worry about bulls-eyes or 1 inch groups at 20 yds with a gun whose primary use is CCW.

I was looking at those Traction Grips, but I think I like the design and style of the Talon rubberized version a bit better - just seems like more attention to design and style - and of course, the are proven grippy.

The traction grips were $8 cheaper, only $10 on ebay, and my first grips, the Shield is slick, my other M&P's are fine without, thought I would give them a try, The standard Talons look like grip tape from my old skateboard, did not know they had a rubberized version. The fit on the Traction grips was good and I will see how they last

Yes I certainly acknowledge the big price difference. But I think that is reflected in the design cues.

The Talons make a rubber model for the Shield I plan to get, I don't dig the skate grip tape ones and have even read for CCW, the grip tape ones can tear your skin and damage clothes. Plus, would never want to grip that sanding tape to begin with. If they didn't have a rubber version, I would not get them and would get the Traction Grips.

9mm Shield to the range first time

/\ I don't wear an undershirt. How would the Talon grips feel against your skin after a day of carrying?

Another thing I should mention was that the magazines were much easier to load than my full size 9mm, my full size M&P is a bear to load, with the shield after about 100 rounds I was able to get that 8th round in no problem.

And yes this is my first compact. recoil is nothing on this 9mm. Nothing but good things to say so far. Time to clean her up now
