Glocks are a great design and a real game-changing innovation in the history of firearms, utterly dependable and accurate. The G34 I had was a great pistol.

That being said, they just do not fit my hand well so my money goes elsewhere.

    I wouldn't say I am a Glock hater. More like a Glock non-perferer.

I find a lot of enjoyment out of shooting ARs and hammer style pistols...so it may not be just a glock thing, I don't like as much striker pistols in general, glock is just the standard in strikers. And I don't enjoy the design and feel of AKs as a preference.

As far as saying they are mediocre and bland, I made the comparison to Toyota driving experience and style. They drive well and get you from A to B they don't look bad but they are not really eye catching. But compare a Toyota to a Ferrari there is a massive difference in handling and how good the car looks. Some don't like it that flashy or care about it and that is fine. But to others that is what they go for, it is all personal preference.

What's funny is if you go to an intermediate to advanced level handgun or carbine/handgun class that the guns out there are moderately modified Glocks (Probably 60% of the class), M&P's, some 1911's of various flavors with a sprinkle of Sig's and maybe an H&K.

Glocks are the easiest to modify due to popularity. That is a given in every field. The more obscure, even if better from the factory, will have fewer aftermarket options.

Besides the point... If these other guns were so much better, more serious shooters would flock to them. It's all a matter of pros and cons when it comes to Glock, the M&P, Classic Sig's and H&K's.

Not at all. When I had my Glock 20SF I was changing all kinds of stuff. Only thing I can change when I get my Walther is the guide rod and the sights. Better out of the box, but you can modify a Glock to do whatever the heck you want.

The Glocks I see usually have sights, stippling and maybe a 25 cent trigger job on average which can be done to any Glock out there. I'm not referring to Salient or ATEi guns now.

Did you buy the G20SF specifically to change parts? If the answer is no, then your point isn't really valid.

I don't believe that people buy guns SIMPLY for aftermarket parts. They buy them because they know they're getting a quality gun.

To quote many people with regards to their [wrong] opinion on stippling: if it was supposed to be like that, it would have come from the factory with it.

Why would you buy a Glock unless you intended to swap the parts? Stock they're pretty blah. This isn't a free state where you can carry from most locations yet anyway. First thing you do to a Glock 20 is a 6" or greater barrel just for starters.

It is really cheap, so if you're on a budget that makes sense. Or if you're in a county that actually allows carry and you don't mind a wider gun.

I mean, is there one? Are we talking a gold plated Desert Eagle or what? Does that make the shooting experience more pleasant? I don't get it.
I think something like a custom 1911 or a Browning Medalist would be considered a Cadillac gun. Better grips, nicer trigger, full steel, longer barrel/sight radius, etc. A GI 1911 would be like an old muscle car. Sure it rattles and shoots/drives about as straight as silly string, but it still has tons of power. Everyone knows they're outdated, but nobody cares because they have so much character. Glock is like Toyota because it goes bang every time, even though it might be lacking creature comforts.

The Ford Taurus of guns would be a Hi Point.

So you categorize Glocks two ways? the G20SF and everything else?

So show me what makes your guns so interesting?

Seriously, this thread is beyond comical.
