Help me decide, HK45 vs Glock 21 Gen 4 trigger.

Recently decided that I want more 45acp polymer in my life. I had my heart set out on the USP45 but then I felt the HK45. At the time I wasn't interested in spending $1250 but now I have seen some at a more reasonable price point. The HK45 has some great ergos, and the ability to swap out the back plates is a plus. My general concern about it is the trigger, the store that I tried it didn't have any snap caps so I couldn't even touch the trigger without them freaking out. And I've been hearing that the HK45's trigger is sub-par to other polymer pistols.

I know I want a 45 polymer, I would like a DA/SA this will be my first HK. Sadly I don't want to spend so much for a pistol and then be dissappointed in the trigger. This is why I am strongly considering an alternative, something I am all too familiar with the Glock trigger, I know what I can do with the trigger and I know I can shoot with it. Not only that but the Glock 21 Gen 4 can be had for $610 up here in Fresno.

I really want an HK but why buy it if the trigger is going to be dissappointing.

PS: I am also looking at the USP 45's trigger and even that one seem to have excessive creep.

Get the LEM trigger on the HK . Once I tried it I sold my Glock 21 and got one. Also the MATCH trigger upgrade on a USP is very nice as well . I have both don't miss my Glock at all .

Does the LEM trigger help with SA/DA creep? One of the reason I hate DA/SA especially ones with a decocker is the creep after the take up of the sear. The Glock doesn't have that, you get the take up and then a crisp break.

I shot Glocks believe me, I love the trigger on Glocks. I just want to say that once in my life I owned an HK and not only an HK but the top of the line HK. Sadly I don't want said top of the line HK to be a piece of .... either.

Hated the trigger guard on my HK... the sharp edge of the trench bit my trigger finger every shot, no matter how I held the gun... HK knows about this, they offered to swap me out a brand new USP 45.. Sold my HK 45 to a family member.

If you were closer I would just buy the one in your sig drop in a match trigger and call it a day.

Having owned both I'd say get the glock if you want to shoot and the HK if you want to look cool at the range.

I had a HK45 it was the first pistol I did a SSE on when I found out about it. Sadly after a couple thousand rounds and going from DA/SA to light LEM and LEM with a heavy TRS changing sights modifying my grip ect and a reality check with my beautiful awesome firearm I ditched the HK45. Why because after attempting to learn how to shoot that gun with any consistent accuracy and repeatably failing to meet my absolute personal minimum standards. I finally gave up the trigger is so aweful in every variant I honestly couldn't for the life of me figure it out even through live fire and repeatable dry firing why I sucked so bad with that particular gun. I came to the conclusion that HK hates me and I suck.

I think you have to be operator as F*** to shoot an HK45 well. I think it would be better if the trigger was made of metal or didn't flex as much.

I guess that is all I needed to decide, I honestly don't want another Glock. But they are just so damn reliable and consistent.

I own several pistols---some are HKs, some are Walther, Browning, 1911, DA revolvers, SA revolvers---all have different trigger systems and feel. Personally, I don't find the HK triggers as bad as they are spoken of on Calguns---in fact, the DA/SA trigger on my P30S 9mm is pretty damn good. It's all what you are used to or can adapt to---PLENTY of satisfied HK owners out there...

TomT that was just my opinion there are a couple of ranges where you can rent an hk45 and try it out like LAX. My experience might be biased because the first pistol I learned to shoot was a beretta 92 and transitioned to glocks and can shoot sigs and 1911's well.

Owning a pair of USP's and then converting them to light LEM I would still suggest you go with the Glock. The DA/SA architecture is just an anachronism and should not be made anymore. And the in-between of the light LEM tries to make up for the old design but you just can't get a hammer-fired gun to run like a striker gun.
In time, I'm selling off my USP's and going with either Glock's or M&P's but either way, a uniform trigger stroke as part of the basic architecture of the design wins out for me, and seemingly many others.

I guess you are right, right now I am just used to the Glock trigger. Which is why I hate the mush associated with most DA/SA. So far the best DA/SA I felt out of all of the DA/SA is Sig IMHO. But I just can't get past the metal frame and the higher bore axis. I've owned CZ75s, I've shot FNs and Sig and out of those 3 I love the Sig's trigger the most. Its the entire package that I am not a fan of.

Which is why I desperately want the HK's trigger to be better than what was described. Or at least give us a timeline for the HK45 Match Trigger drop in.

PS: Thank you everyone for your input, right now I think I'm going to wait and see what HK does with their HK45. I am hoping a Match Trigger drop in would be in order much like the USP.

I own the compact (hk45 not usp). The compact doesn't have the trench. The SA is a crisp 5lbs and the DA is a gritty 12.5lbs (both weights ballpark). I found that a smooth continuous pull of the DA gets better results than trying to stage it. The reset is very positive. HK triggers aren't for everyone, but they can be learned, and IMHO, the DA/SA hammer guns are much more forgiving of the intangibles when it comes to safety. LEM trigger is supposedly a good option, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't recommend it.
