I'm wondering what a decent price would be for a new.357 our.44 single action ruger with a barrel of more than 6 inches. Googled it and the prices on the ruger site seem high like 800 bucks, am i just being cheap or can i find them for less

thank you sir, should have specified that I wanted a SS but I found some on that website, do they not make the .357 with a 10.5 inch barrel? saw the .44mag. Also, I little experience with Single actions, I just really like the concept, would the .357 still shoot .38 special? My goal is to get a SS single action revolver and a SS lever action, preferable in the same caliber.

A 10.5" barrel length is not easy to find in a mid size off the shelf revolver these days. S&W does them from the custom shop that I've seen but I don't remember the last time I saw one from Ruger.

For 357 Magnum, do note that Ruger single action revolvers come in two separate frame sizes....
I will not discuss barrel length variations here, there are many.

[Larger/heavier frame]
"Blackhawk" frame - larger/heavier frame, adj. rear sights
"SuperBlackhawk" frame - same as BH above, for 44Mag models, gripframe options vary
"Vaquero" frame - larger/heavier frame, fixed sights, more "cowboy" looking
"Bisley"/"Bisley Blackhawk" - more vertical, non-plowhandle less traditional grip good for hot loads

BTW, "New Model Blackhawk" means it's post-1973 and has transfer bar safety so you can safely carry 6 rounds.

"New Vaquero" frame - 38/357, 44Special (only), 45Colt; very real "cowboy"
"50th Anniv Flattop 357" - same smaller size as New Vaquero but like old "Flattop" with adj. "Micro" sights
"Blackhawk Flattop" - as above, commonly dual cylinder 45acp/45LC
There are also some Bisleys based on this smaller SAA-sized form factor, esp 44Special

OP, I sold a 10.5" SS awhile back. You do see them every once in a while.

Sportsman Warehouse has 2 models of .44 Mag SS single Action.
Rocklin/Roseville area, I was there yesterday Saturday.
I think they were both Hunter models 7 1/2" Bbl. , one was std the other bisley.
Did not check price, but if I remember from before they are $800.00+

Nice. Now consider taking up reloading. To fully realize the diversity of .44 Special and .44 Magnum, you simply must reload. Otherwise, you are very limited in ammo selection and it will cost you.
