How much magnification do I need to see .22 bullet holes at a maximum distance of 100 yards? Paper targets. Thanks.

Idk, but I would like to hear the answer
If I may quickly hijack this thread, are there any decent low priced spotting scopes (like within $100)? I keep renting the crappy one from Angeles and it hardly works.Originally posted by RookieShooterOne of the theory is that the hormones they put in the milk. Roughly 20x...
...but, the largest part of the equation isn't magnification, its the ability to gather light. You can estimate that with an objective size of 70mm and up, every 10mm larger is roughly 25% brighter. That will often give the ability to get a clear picture of what you're looking at with less magnification.
I run This 100mm Celestron and I can resolve 5.56mm at 100 yards no problem.Comment

The Konus 20-60 are very well regarded for clarity for the price. Around $200 from SWFA. Search out the brand name and you will see that for a low cost spotter, they are tough to beat.
My primary spotter now is a MK4 Leupold, but would have purchased a Konus if I did not get the smoking deal on the 4.Comment
