    Beretta Nano - 3 Questions/Minor Issues

The Nano seems to be doing well so far, and none of the FTE issues that seems to be prevalent on the web with any kind of ammo, but a few questions/issues on my own end and I wonder if anyone has a solution or experience with the following:

    1. The "knob" that is rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise for take down started to work itself loose during shooting today. Is it only a bar of metal with an o-ring in it to keep it in via friction?

After about shooting less than 100 rounds, it was almost falling out of the pistol already. It was protruding about 1.5mm from the frame, pulling on it a tiny bit more (move maybe about 0.5-1mm more) caused the entire bar to just come out. I do not want to imagine what would/could have happened if the bar keeping the slide on the frame fell wiggled loose in defensive situation...

    2. Do the 8 round magazines drop free for everyone? The one that came with mine only drops free with about 4+ rounds in it. Any less, it drops free about 1cm then gets stuck via friction and I have to pull down about 1 more cm before it drops free by itself. The 6 rounder drops free 100% of the time (very positively I might add).

    3. Does anyone have to push forward and up at the same time to seat the mags? If I just push both the 6 and 8 round mag up, it won't seat (no click). I have to do one of the following:
    a. push them towards the muzzle end while I insert it
    b. push it all the way up, then push forward and up at the same time
    c. push on only the forward part of the magazine base plate very firmly (only works ~90% of the time so far).
For reference, I've never had problems inserting any types of mag before and I wasn't the only one who had this problem - a few friends and even my FFL who is familiar with these didn't get it properly on their first try either.

Wonder if a new polymer frame (not the internal serialized metal frame) would fix all 3 of the above - I would imagine this all falls under warranty if they weren't user induced errors.

I haven't had the problems you are experiencing.

Have you experienced any problems at all on your own end?

By the way, now that I see my questions again, hopefully they don't come off as a scathing criticism of the Nano. It's actually pretty good aside from these issues. And if Beretta were to cheap out and for some reason not warranty this, luckily a new frame is only $35.

I understand. My only problem is getting comfortable and more accurate with it. I had a problem with the night sights so had to send the slide in so the sights could be fixed under warranty. I probably only have 200 rounds through it.
I would send it in for repair.

Keep us updated on how it is going. Mine will be my primary carry gun so I would like to know how your issues get resolved.

        Good luck.

Probably a good idea to also bring this up on the Beretta forum to see if other Nano users are experiencing similar issues.

Called Beretta earlier today and was able to speak to a service rep within 15 secs after selecting all of the options from the automated system. After describing the 3 problems to the rep briefly they sent me an email with further instructions for the return and a pre-paid label. Rep was knowledgeable and courteous and answered all of my questions concisely. Entire call took me less than 10 minutes.

Additionally, I specifically asked the rep if they were OK with shipping/returning to CA, they said yes (i.e. none of Sig's must be rostered config to return they had earlier) if anyone else needs service but is hesitant about this part.

            So far so good...

Update for anyone who was following:

Beretta received the gun on a Friday. Started work Monday. Shipped out Tuesday. Amazing turn around time.

              1. Can't say if it's been fixed yet as I haven't fired the gun, but it only seems slightly harder to push out than before. Pin does look like it was worked on and polished though ("receipt" says it was polished).

2/3. Both 6 and 8 round magazines insert and drop positively and freely now. They replaced the 8 round mag body and magazine release.

Also polished my chamber and replaced the extractor even though I had no extraction/feeding issues. Glad they proactively addressed issues others were having, even if it is something extra for me to check/test. Fed/cycled dummy rounds, including 1 plastic round where everything is slightly oversized and the rim is about 2x too thick compared to a normal casing. Note that this dummy round doesn't work well in any 9mm I've ever used it with, including the Nano before service. Did not encounter any issues with the dummy rounds, including the plastic round, which really surprised me. Service order also states that they fired 30 rounds of 115 WWB through it w/o any issues (I felt/saw the residue upon inspection after receiving it). Takedown pin didn't look like it had loosened at all within those 30 rounds, but I don't know if mine had gradually worked loose within the ~100 rounds I fired or if it was sudden at a certain point.

Overall a very good service/CS experience. I had read many stories online and saw several youtube videos saying Beretta CS wasn't very good and I was hesitant to contact them at first. Glad it worked out.

Random aside - got 2 more 6rd and 1 more 8rd magazine for the Nano. 6 rounders are fine. Other 8 rounder won't lock the slide back 50% of the time if it had cycled (dummy) rounds previously. Can be fixed by pushing down on and releasing the follower w/ my finger, and will lock back 100% of the time if insert empty (closed or open slide). I can't notice any visual differences between the way the follower sits in this 8 round magazine and the others that all work fine. Given that the body needed to be replaced on the other 8 rounder, the mags for these are deviating from specs more than they'd like. I will say though (knock on wood) that I almost never have magazine related issues of any sort, so the issues on the Nano surprise me.
