Seller's DROS

Hey guys, I'm sure this question has been asked before. Every time I search it sends me to similar threads but not specific enough. I am planning on selling my H&K USP this month but I am unable to locate my original DROS copy. I am curious if my copy of the DROS from my original purchase is required when reselling my handgun.

Simply, do I need a copy of my original DROS when selling my firearm?

WTF? Are you saying that some idiot FFL required you to prove a firearm was DROSed to you prior to selling it? If so, find another FFL. There is ZERO requirement to prove you bought it from a Ca FFL and went through Ca's DROS process.

The most important DROs IMHO is the "seller's" copy whenever you sell a firearm. These you wouldn't want to lose.

Why? The gun is gone. I am a big proponent of not keeping un-required paperwork. I destroy ALL my firearms purchase and sale paperwork asap. It's not up to me to prove what I have purchased or sold PERIOD.

I just like having proof that I sold the firearm to someone else. All of the people I sold to are upstanding, however there is a chance that a firearm can get lost or stolen and a chance the same firearm ended up being used in a crime; having this one piece of paper is a good fall back to keeping you out of any legal liability.

Do you do the same every time you sell anything at a garage sale? Sorry, I think you're paranoid. In fact, every time a firearm is legally transferred through a FFL in CA, there is a Dealer Record Of Sale submitted to the state. So, there's already a paper trail that is an official record. Having a hard copy that can be easily counterfeited doesn't mean much to me.

I think slipknot95758 was saying his ID did not have his current address on it.
They require DL or ID to have current information on it.
