*PICS* Anyone else get frustrated assembling their 22/45 mk111???

Just got mine back & of course...I had to take it apart. Oh Boy! Once I learned to position the hammer in the right spot, so the mainspring hook part settles in & tip the barrel to the sky, I got it. Not too bad, I guess I've gotten frustrated easily lately with a lot going on. No issue whatsoever at this point & it's a good thing!

I haven't fired it yet, but will go early next week. I'm waiting for .308 ammo to arrive. I'll focus on sighting my rifle, then put a bunch of rounds thru the deuce!

The instruction manual tells you exactly how to do it.

You tube videos help as well. I also would recommend the bushing from Tandemkross, makes take down and mag changes much easier!

Get a Hi-Viz Fiber Optic sight as well and you will be set.

For a long time I used instructions off of one site and always had problems. Then I found another one and bam, no more problems. I will see if I can find it again and I will post it.

Thanks for the tandemkross hint. I may have to do that.

Definitely get the Tandemkross bushing. I'm sorry I waited as long as I did to do it. It's a pretty easy fix, and totally worth it.

There are other sources of the bushing as well, including the guy that originated the part, Sam Lam. I think his is the least expensive, too.

It is no Glock but, if done the correct way it is not that bad.

Back in the early 80's when I bought my first Ruger .22 semi-auto pistol, all I had was the manual. and it was hard for me cause I'm kind of slow. You new guys now have the Internet and Youtube. Shouldn't be a problem learning how to do it . The hard part now is finding ammo that I used to get at K-Mart for 4.95 a for brick of 500.

There are four upgrades I highly suggest you make to this pistol that will likely make it the best shooter you own.
                    1. Tandemkross Steel Ruger Mark III & 22/45 Magazine Disconnect Bushing- this is a no brainer.
                    2. Volquartsen [VC2TS] Target Sear for MKII and MKIII Retail $28.50- dropped my 8lb trigger to sub 3lb with the VQ trigger installed.
                    3. Volquartsen [VC2TT] Target Trigger for MKII and MKIII Retail $35.50- amazingly smooth, better angle than stock trigger, and with pretravel and overtravel screws adjusted I have maybe 4mm of total travel with a perfectly smooth trigger break.
                    4. Kane Wolf slingshot mod Retail $20- you can send in your part or order a new one from Ruger like I did for $8 and send it off. When done, you no longer need to use the slide release to chamber a round in a fresh mag.

I hated my 22/45 MKIII when I bought it, but absolutely freaking love it now. I even love it over my S&W M&P22 which is saying a lot since I fell in love with that pistol after the first trigger pull.
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

The youTube videos do help. Once you get the hang of it you will be CTG from then on. If you get frustrated put it down and come back later. Don't force anything.

Love my 22/45. One of my favorite shooters. Take down and reassembly is a breeze once you ditch the Mag Disconnect parts and install a bushing like TK or VQ.

Also I highly suggest ditching the stupid front sights for some Dawson Precision Fiber Optic serrated front sights. Really brings out the true performance of the 22/45. Soooooooo accurate. Also polish up that sear/hammer for a crisp break, mine breaks at 3.5LBS. Love it.

This is the vid I used to learn the disassembly/reassembly of my P512MKIII. Simple, straight to the point, and he doesn't use goofy terminology like some other videos do.

Also, in case you haven't got one already, get the Ultimate Clip Loader. Besides the Sam Lam bushing, that was the other item I bought before my gun was even out of jail. IMO that should be the first item any Ruger MK or Browning Buckmark owner should purchase.

Some other mods that I've done to make it my favorite gun to shoot:
                              *gravity slingshot mod
                              *gutted LCI
                              *HiViz fiberoptic front sight
                              *Volquartsen target sear
                              *Volquartsen spring kit
                              *more mags
