I got my new recoil spring and striker spring from Wolff. Tore the slide down and it was a dirty mess. Cleaned it up and installed new springs. Slide and trigger seem to be running better. Gun looked to be in good shape except for the striker block. At the base where it sits in slide the coating or plating was peeling off. Anyone seen that and is it normal?

      K9 Erratic Ejection Problem

More info: I don't want to pull the slide apart again for a photo. Best description: striker block has a spring at the bottom where it sits in the slide. The base of the striker block (closest to spring) has some flaking or peeling of the metal on the sides of the block when I took it out and cleaned it. It was definitely the striker block - I could use my nail and peel it off. I cleaned off the peeling and replaced. I'm not sure if that part is nickel coated or what. The places where the metal flaked was dull while the other parts are shiny. The peeling only occurred at base and on sides where it sits all the way into the slide - probably 1/8 inch from from base of spring. I am just wondering if it is a problem. I would not think that would affect the structural integrity of the part but I do not know that much about metals. Here is a pic from internet of new striker block. The hole is for spring - the sides closest to spring are where the flaking/peeling occurred on mine.

Nice chat with Kahr today regarding ejector and striker block. It is normal for ejector to have a little play in it and it does very from model to model. They also said it is normal for the striker block coating to wear off - no issues wtih intergrity. I had a lot fun breaking down and researching this K9 and I have learned a lot. Case closed - thx for your replies!

New springs and good cleaning really helped with consistency of ejected brass. Nice gun now!
