    Canik 55 Stingray-C

Any experiences with this hand gun?

I have a penchant for semi obscure guns and for me it's only $338 + DROS and sales tax. Also need to decide between tan or green. I'm favoring green but tan might have better resale value.

Being a CZ clone it looks like CGW has some parts to smooth out the trigger so that's an added benefit.

Can you actually get a SSE for it?

edit: do they take CZ mags? Man I might get one of these too if I can SSE it.

Guessing he doesn't need to SSE it being a LEO.

Reviews look favorable. Accuracy akin to a CZ. CZ mags apparently work though sights won't. I'd say go for it and get it in green. If you don't like it then I'll be happy to take it off your hands.

OP, no experianse with Stingray-C. But I do own two other Caniks, the Shark(CZ clone) and TP-9(Walther clone) my Shark is OD and the TP-9 is tan.
I have been very impressed with both, the Shark came with a very good trigger.
Both guns exceeded my expectations. My CZ mags work great in the Shark, I put VZ grips on it for a CZ and had to do just a little work on them, but they fit great. Dawson precision Walther sights were a direct fit for the TP-9.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

I was researching these and they are a steel frame so there's some considerable weight. Not really ideal for ccw. The larger shark version is probably better as it's an alloy frame and I think it weighs less than the Stingray.

The stingray is a p01 ish type clone. CZ mags do fit and drop free but the regular size ones do not fit flush. Even the p01 aren't entirely flush. It looks like they got rid of the hard chromed version for these 2014 versions. Supposedly they also got rid of the chrome barrels and adjustable sights for the new editions as well. CZ sights will not fit though CGW does offer some FO sights. People say the fit and finish are better than CZ and the trigger is also a bit better too.

I was thinking of picking one up but with the extra $200 tacked on to the price for SSE and transfer it wasn't worth it for me. With sales tax and DROS it pushes the price past $600 so I'll opt for something else. But if someone knows where I can get it for under $500 OTD please PM me.

look into the sar k2p 9mm if you want something lighter. Made by a 130 year old Turkish company, Sarsilmaz and imported by EAA. Awesome reviews on various forums. Great build with better than normal triggers.

I just got the Two-tone K2 in .45 and the B6P fullsize in 9mm. awaiting their shipment to my FFL.

The K2P 9mm and B6PC are both P-01 size with polymer frames. both are under $400 before SSE

                  Canik in California

                  Hello All,
I am hoping someone can help me find a place in CA where I might obtain a new or used Canik 55: compact, shark, or stingray. Does anyone know of a place in CA where I might get one of these? I'm glad to be part of the forum, thanks.
                  In God We Trust.

The Stingray isn't a clone of the CZ. I don't know why people keep saying one gun is a clone of another, but these aren't clones. The parts aren't interchangable. I don't have a Stingray-C since I have a kel-tec P-11 for concealed carry, but I do have a TP-9, which I'm sure someone will claim is a clone of a Walther. I can say as an owner of a Walther P99 and a Canik55 TP-9, the guns aren't clones, just like the Stingray isn't a clone of the CZ.

My personal opinion is to wait a few years after the Turkish companies get more experience in the US market and refined their guns a bit. The guns will improve and the prices won't go up much. Right now they are trying to increase their sales in the US with their first group of imported guns, but hopefully feedback from their customers and distributors will let them improve the next batch of models.

I think it's your definition of "clone", sure looks like a CZ Clone to me, so the parts aren't interchangeable, it a has all the key CZ features, down to the inside rails and locking mechanism... but then again, CZ copied from a multitude of guns

dwtt is taking the word clone much to literally. Of course the Canik's are not exact copies of the CZ and Walther(a true clone) but there is absolutely no denying that the Stingray is based on in form and function a CZ and the same with the TP9 and the Walther P99.
That is what people mean when they call them a clone, not that it's a 100% exact copy.
