    S&W K Frame 22lr with 3" Barrel

Does this exist? I saw a picture of one online in stainless but can't find any record of the gun.

There are three inch J frame .22s, but I don't recall a K frame in that configuration.

        No, they do not exist.

The 617 was made in 4, 6 and 8 3/8 inch barrel length.

A very very few model 17 were made in stainless steal with an unshrouded 6" barrel, but they are very expensive.

I don't think you know any competent gunsmiths. Perhaps you meant to say none were factory made.

Do you think he was asking about what someone could do with a hacksaw or what came from the factory?

^^^ Yep, you could certainly pay a gunsmith to do that.

Of course, you would now have a 2 LONG RIFLE CTG. on the barrel directly after the muzzle (the 1" mark is exactly between the .2|2).

And on the other side of the gun, you would cut off the 'N'.... So you would have a SMITH & WESSO

That would sure be one unique 617... Be sure to post some pics!

He saw a random picture of one on the internet. He asked, and I quote "Does this exist?". He did not ask if S&W ever produced it. He asked if they exist, he saw a picture of one, how it came to be was not the question the OP was asking. He asked if they exist, and I say yes, you saw a picture of one. Your the one making wild, blanked statements that a 3" .22lr K frame never existed, right after the OP told you he saw a picture of one.

So if I asked if a k22 with a 2.5397 inch barrel exists you would just have to say yes because someone could make one. I guess everything exists since everything can possibly be made.

The point is it _could_ exist. You claim it can't, despite the OP seeing a picture of one. I simply think your first post incorrect.

"I cannot for the life of me understand why S&W hasnt made a run of classic Model 45 .22 M&P copies.

"For that mater a Stainless steel version of the classic Model 18 and 17..."

S&W did make stainless versions of the 17 and 18. They were Model 617's and were made in both 4 and 6 inches, without the full length underlug on the barrel, for Ashland Shooters Supply, who was then a fairly big S&W distributor.
