    Sig P226 or 229 .357/.40 owners?

First question - Is it true that to swap from .357 to .40 and vice versa is just a matter of swapping barrels, nothing else?

Second - Which one do you like better?

First - true, going from .40 S&W to .357 Sig. I converted my MK25 P226 into a .357 but I needed to buy the caliber exchange kit (slide, barrel, recoil spring)

    Second - .357 Sig
    Have gun, will travel

1.) You can easily exchange barrels in the 40 cal p226/p229 to 357 sig, 9mm requires a caliber exchange kit as stated above.

2.) I own both the p226 and p229 and I kind of prefer the p229 over the p226 just because for some reason I just shoot it better, but both pistols are great so you really cant go wrong.

Barrel swap yeah no problem. Although in Sig Armorer's school they told us that the locking block was different and you shouldn't do it. Yeah I think it was more they just wanted to sell more guns or parts.

Between the 226 & 229 if they have rails, 226, no rails 229. I just don't like the way the 229 looks with the rail.

I have a 229 in 357 SIG with a .40 conversion barrel. Great shooting gun. I shoot the .40 more when I go to the range because its cheaper. I prefer the 357 but shooting it gets expensive compared to the .40.

Ok! great guys and thanks for feedback. I didn't expect that all would picked .357 Add me to .357 club.

I now like the non-rail frame, it's nice & clean. The last two purchased were non-rails and they did not disappoint.

I picked up both 226 and 229 CPO. They came with both barrels. My 229 was a Secret Service issue (according to Sig) and the .357 barrel had been shot, but the .40 was untouched. The 226 was police dept issue and had been used with the .40.

I have fired both weapons with both rounds and personally, prefer the .40.
