I like the 7 shot....but can't used my Safariland Comp III speedloaders with it. You cannot go wrong with either one.....I have both and like the trigger feel of the older ones better, but that may just be because of the examples I have. Both are nice for the lack of the lock alone. I'de never sell one to buy the other.....I'de figure out a way to keep them both.....sorry I'm not much help with that decision.

Good thing you're down in San Diego, otherwise I'd be driving around to the dealers right now looking for this gun.

But seriously, you're gonna hear opinions on both sides of the fence about the MIM versus forged arguments; both are sound, it just comes down to what you personally prefer. I prefer the older forged deals because of how they feel to me - it's one of those things that can be hard to describe, sort of like trying to describe why you like brunettes more than blondes or something.

I personally would not do it but if you like that gun by all means go for it.

Odds are slim to none that the dealer will still have the gun after this weekend. Most pre lock 686's in 4" disappear within a day or two in SD. I know because everytime I see one I don't have the money that day, within two days it is gone. This has happened several times. Nothing wrong with the one you have now. Unless you can pony up the scratch to keep both I'd let it go.

it depends on what the goal is. For just a shooting iron, keep the one you have. If you are more interested in long term collectibilty, get the older one.

Easy decision for me, I'd sell the 'plus' to get the old one. The timing and lock-up of the older smiths is just so much better. If that matters to you and you know what to look for then you need to get it.
