    RANGE REPORT....NIGHTHAWK ENFORCER REDONE

Ok, I sent the Nighthawk Enforcer to its home for a simple warranty fix as well as some elective work. I was originally frustrated because work I did not want done, was done, and work I paid for was not completed BUT all in all the gun is really nice and turned out really well. The black barrel really has grown on me.

What it went in for was a premature slide locking issue, they took care of that, in addition they lowered the ejection port to current geometry, replaced the fire control components (hammer, sear, disconnector with new machined parts, replaced the slide stop, grip safety, and bushing with new machined parts too... So I now have the BEST of both worlds a 2005 build gun, sub 500 serial number built by Mr. Phillips, Travis Gregory and mr. Sharp. (3 of the best in the business) Mr. phillips is at Wilson now. I suggested One of the original builders do the work on the gun and in fact Travis Gregory completed all the work and it turned out really well. It was also refinished in Black Nitride (love this finish)...not that it was worn to begin with , actually it had seen less than a thousand rounds total, It looked new but I wanted to go away from the two tone to an all black finish.

oh, and they recut the feedramp, did a full reliability job, replaced the ejector, extractor, tuned the extractor, raduised it and polished the bottom edge, and throated the chamber and polished the feedramp, throat, and chamber.....

I took it to the range and shot only 150rds but no failures at all , runs like a top. I will save to boring details and post pics of the before, after, and an 8rd group at 10yds. Took it out Sunday and ran 150 more. I keep going when I am pressed for time, but she ran flawlessly.

Let m e know what you think.....I think this is a pretty special pistol given its history, builders, and updating, you cant buy one like it with the same builders for sure Serial number is 000336now they are at 20k

I was aiming at the 7 on the target

I like the new look. Ejection port is significantly lower.

I MAY be selling it because I just found out my Wilson was kitted....Given what it is I will likely ask 4k for it

And it was completely rebuilt and refinished, essentially brand new. upgrades, better finish than new ones, top builders in the biz....sub 500 serial number...

When SSE is gone, maybe, but $4,000 seems a bit excessive.

I think for what it is, it isn't too far off. I MAy be selling. Just throwing a number out. nothing really set in stone. I'm not even sure I'm going to sell it. Really like it. I will know in a week or two. in addition its not a gun that you can just go pick up., a custom order a gun with this configuration would probably be 12 to 24 month wait time...into the builders don't even work but not hot anymore..they are back at Wilson.

Really like how that came out. Hopefully one day I will own a Wilson, nighthawk or a bear. I'm going to do it right for my first 1911.

I actually see Nighthawks locally, which surprised me given their price. I believe they were just below $3k at two places I saw them. I've not shot or held one myself, so I can't comment on the value of them, but they sure do look nice.

I've also seen an Ed Brown and a couple of Baers locally, with the Baers being the lowest price obviously. The Baers sure don't look as pretty as the others, but for some reason, I like that about them.

Correct, A Base grp with no back history, no additional Mods and the standard finish will start at about 2800-2900....a bone stock current production Enforcer will start around 3400+- a few dollars add 250 for the ambi and fitting, 200 for a full blown reliability job, 250 for the Black nitride finish...puts this one at 4100 then add to it the smiths that built it, the low serial number and these being known as some of the best guns to come out of the shop ever and 4000 isnt too out of bounds. I am not currently selling but the numbers are there, I would probably be around 4k. Full and complete documentation is also helpful, which I do have.

Thanks for the compliment Jeff, he saw the gun in person last week when I got it back. Oh, and I take that compliment seriously coming from a guy that has not only owned a ton of 1911s himself but has the sexiest Les Baer I have had the pleasure of seeing.
