    XD 9mm Subcompact thoughts?

Since stuff's falling off the roster I got the urge to get a subcompact since I don't own a subcompact. The M&P shield has become the unicorn of pistols lately so I went with the XD as my second choice. Love the way it feels in the hand but have yet to shoot it.
Who here has experience with this piece and can share their overall thoughts on this gun?
    Thanks

My gf has the XD 9SC. To me, it's the only subcompact that feels like shooting the full size in terms of recoil and accuracy. Its only downsides IMO is the trigger's long reset and it's a little larger than other compact guns such as the M&P 9c.

I was initially looking at the XD Sub but ended up going with the XDS 9mm. First time out this weekend. The trigger had me a bit concerned but after firing 50 rounds I love it. 7 Round Std Mag and super slim.

Worth a look if you don't mind the SSE fees.

I love mine, I have both ends of the spectrum. The Tactical and SubCompact, both in 9mm.

I also have the Tactical and have considered the sc recently. Is there a specific date it is supposed to fall off?

I looked recently at the roster, but didn't notice. thanks.

I want to stick with 9mm, and love the fact that the sc can take the full size mag with a spacer for range time, etc. I'd expect that my wife would steal it from me, if it shoots as sweetly as the tactical does.

I have an XD40SC - accurate, recoil is manageable. Just picked up the XDs 45. Will be ordering an XDs 9mm down the road for my wife unless she decides on the 45.

The XD line is heavier than other polymer pistols in the same class, which helps with muzzle flip. For example, the XD9 service (4") is comparable in size to the Glock 19 but heavier; the muzzle flip is a bit less because of the extra weight. The XD's also seem a little bulkier. I own the XD9 service and seems to shoot a little "softer" than my G17, but the trigger is mushy with a long reset.
I have the XDs 9mm and she's a snappy "little bi**h" (my wife's nickname for it) when trying to transition from full size pistols, but after some practice I'm able to shoot it very well after adjusting my grip.

It's not really a good comparison between the XD subcompact (double stack) and the Shield or XDs (Single stack). Shield's are available all over the place now.

The grip safety seems really silly on a striker fired gun.

I'll probably open a can of worms with this but I think it can be practical when it comes to holstering, especially if holstering rearward of the 3:00 position. If you hold the pistol with your thumb on the rear of the slide when holstering instead of depressing the grip safety there's no chance of an accidental discharge should something (clothing) get caught on the trigger when holstering. When drawing from the holster in a SD situation, your natural grip will engage the grip safety without having to think about it. I prefer it to a manual safety, such as on the Shield.

Yeah, she's a chunky gun for sure, which is why I was attracted to the M&P shield at first. But it has a shorter barrel which I like and I'm a big dude so it feels good in an inside the waistband holster. I imagine the extra weight helps with recoil.

You are the first one to say that XD has less muzzle flip than glock. XD has higher bore axis than glock. When the bore is lower, it recoils in line with your wrists, causing you to not snap up as much.

That's been my experience, with the XD9 service and a Glock 19. It really has to do with the extra weight of the XD; without any measurements the forward part of the slide seems to be a little heavier on the XD. As I said, the XD feels bulkier (to me anyway) all around.
Of course it could all be in my head but I can shoot either one as well as the other and both are great pistols. YMMV

I have two Sprinfields, XD 40 Service and XD 40 Subcompact.
I haven't been to the range with either. Life has been getting in the way.
The service has been to Springfield Customs for hard chrome, match barrel fitting and sights.....

                          Planning on shooting this Friday.
                          Bought 600 rounds...........

i gotta say that i also feel a comparable xd has less snap than a glock. nothing scientific here, just my seat-o'-the-pants-meter. could just be the differing grip sizes and angles, causing me to hold the pistols differently.

I like my XD9 SC alot. In a nice hybrid IWB holster and the flush magazine it conceals very well.
