Shield 9mm vs kahr p9.

Has anybody shot these two side by side and if so what were the differences. I have a p9 and like it, but the shield has always caught my attention, just never shot one.

I own a Kahr but haven't taken delivery on my Shield yet but in my opinion if you already own a Kahr P9 and it's reliable and you like it then I can't think of any compelling reason to buy a 9mm Shield, I just wanted the Shield because I like it too.

The major differences are the trigger and the bulk of spare magazines. Both have excellent but completely different triggers and the choice is simply personal preference, I like both triggers with a nod to the Shield (again - personal preference). On the other hand I like Kahr's skinny magazines a bit better for carry.

The other big differences mainly effect those buying their first single stack sub compact - price and warranty support, both of which strongly favor the S&W.

I had a P9 but I never warmed up to it. Something about it just felt off.

I'm in the same boat.
I have a Kahr p380 and really like it and have had no problems with it.
All my 9mm I have to date are Glock and I have gotten good at the trigger so the S&W might be more in line with that type of trigger.
I'm not sure which way to go..

After holding a Sig P239 at my lgs, I wish I would have purchased that instead of the Khar.
Its a bit bigger and heavier but built like a tank. You should check one out.

I honestly don't see much difference between the two. P9 is more expensive but you could always just get a CW9 and now you are in the same price range. I personally like the long super smooth trigger of the Kahr and the looks over the Shield but the Shield has softer edges. I like how simple the Kahr internals are. Its crazy simple with little to go wrong. Can't go wrong with either really. They are both good guns from great MFG's.

My fav sub-compact/carry pistol goes to the "K" series of Kahrs. Their all steal models are build as nice as anything out there. To me, their poly frame pistols were a step down for the company rep. I know why they made them but nothing IMO compares to how awesome a K9 or K40 feels. Just a solid solid gun. I carry a K40 after trying a dozen of other small pistols. The added weight is worth the quality of the pistol. For me I will pick a Kahr option before another because I have seen Kahrs best and like it. They are a company built around sub-compact guns and they know a few things about it.

Don't know about the P9, but I do have a PM9 and Shield 9.
The PM9 has a lighter pull, but a longer pull, reset goes to the Shield.
Sights are even both come with nice steel sights that work well and are tough, PM 9 uses the i-dot and Shield the three dot.
My PM9 has always amazed me with its accuracy for such a small gun. Only have a few hundred rounds fired from the shield, so not really fair to compare. But at this point accuracy goes to the Kahr, but I have owned and shot it for six years.
Both have been nothing but reliable, although small sample size with the shield.
The PM9 is much smaller, but comes with quirks. Slide release lever most be used when clambering a round, mags do not always drop free.
With the shield I find myself always looking for a better grip, not so with the Kahr.
What does al this tell me, there still is no perfect gun. A pic with them together for size reference.

The Kahr is a neat little pistol, but I never cared for the trigger. The Shield fits me better, and for me, the trigger is more what I am used to.
