Glock 17L

What do you guys think about Glock 17L, obviously it was not selling so Glock has to discontinue this model.

I will have a G34 in couple of weeks and debating if it will be good to add G17L as well to my collection. What are your thoughts about G17L?

IMO, all the L models look a bit funny, but function over form.

Where did you get the idea that the glock 17L " was not selling so glock has to discontinue"? Glock does do a small run of it every 2-3 years.

They are not discontinued, just small batches. Its not legal in some competitions, hence the reason for the G34. They are hard to find, if you can get one then do it.

I've actually been debating whether to pick one up, or get a Gen 4 G34.

While the G34 is newer being a Gen 4 and is a few bucks cheaper, and also more proportionate looking, there's something about the G17L that kind of makes me want to get that instead. That, and the fact that it's more rare and would probably retain it's value better than a 'more common' Gen 4 G34 if I decided to sell.

The reality of it is, I'll probably never shoot either in any completions and just want one "just because" so I'm trying to figure out which one I want to get

I love my Glock 24C. I also have an unported Storm Lake barrel for it. Eventually want to get a 9mm conversion barrel as well. Not sure if I will ever add the .357 conversion but obviously there are lots of options with the G24.

I bought the upper from Rguns years ago and just switched it out on my G22 when wanted to shoot it. Last year I bought a competition model lower from Glockmeister and now have a dedicated lower for it.

Actually that is not correct. The G17L is legal in USPSA Open Division, Steel Challenge Open Division and in IDPA under 'not for Competition'

8.2.7.2. IDPA allows clubs to add a “Not for Competition” scoring division for Tier 1 matches only. This allows calibers smaller than 9mm, carry optics, and other pistols which do not fit into the 5 competition divisions to participate in local club matches.

I have a G17L with a dot on it, but don't shoot it nearly as much as my G17. You will never loose any money if you decide to buy one and sell it later.

I've been thinking about getting a lone wolf G24 upper myself for shooting limited uspsa, I don't see any good reason to not get one of the long slide Glocks if you can. Great target pistols.

None have ever been seen in the wild AFAIK. They rarely even make the Gen3 versions so I wouldn't expect them to make it a priority to retool to make a Gen4 version unless they completed abandoned the Gen3 lower and wanted to put out another batch of them.

when i bought my gen 4 34 i had the opportunity to get the 17L. i should have bought the 17 L as well as they are all sold out again.
