SP101 trigger question- is this normal?

My trigger is able to be pulled and hammer drops when cylinder is out.
    Is this normal?
I only upgraded wolff trigger and hammer springs, no other mods or polishing done

Nope, it's not supposed to do that.
The hammer should come back only about 20% of the way to full cock, then both hammer and trigger should stop.
It's designed like this to prevent firing if the cylinder is not fully closed.

There's an extention of the part that acts as the cylinder release button that blocks the "hand", the part that rotates the cylinder. That stops the trigger from being pulled much more than about 20%. Make sure that the cylinder release button is remaining depressed when the cylinder is swung out. You may have debris or something gumming up the plunger and spring that acts upon the cylinder release.

^^This. I have a GP100 and it won't fire with the cyl open. It behaves just as Dannicus describes above.

I can "undepress" the release when the cyl is out but it springs back when I release it. Perhaps you caught something when you put it back together. I'd just take it all apart and assemble it again.

okay its fixed, there was a pin (crane latch pivot) that worked itself loose, probably from the 357 and tightening it up solved the issue, cylinder locks very secure now as well, takes twice as much pressure to close the cylinder.
            Thanks.
On the other hand, I havent been happy about how this gun is handling 357 loads
seems like the recoil is rattling this gun apart since the beginning

That sucks. Do you have one of the newer models? I have a '93 and it's solid as a rock.

Mine is new and handles .357 just fine.
Well, other than the punishment my hand receives.
                I mainly shoot 38 & 38 +P because of that.

I don't even like shooting 357 out of my gp100......

38 isd as real pleasure, though.
