    Getting bonked in the head

OK, I've periodically noticed that the spent casing hits me in the head, or occasionally face but today it seemed like my damn gun was aiming for me.

No scientific data but the quantity of casings that hit my head was "a lot" out of the 100 shots I took.

It's a glock 17. Federal ammo, not limp wristing it.

Any tips? I thought I've read that the otherwise fine glock is semi-known for this kind of malicious behavior, or maybe there's a bad part I should swap out?

    Thanks!

I would start with the extractor and/or ejector.
We in Bangor, Maine now baby.

I might start by having a friend or someone at your range ( that you trust and preferably has shot Glocks before) shoot some rounds through it and see if you can replicate the problem.

Or, I took a quick look, supposedly the extractor is the issue on Gen 4 s (*according to the people selling extractors.) and are reasonably priced anywhere from 30 to 70 + dollars

I think everyone's heard about this problems on some gen 4 Glocks.
for that kind of money I would just replace the extractor and see.

It's a Gen 3 that I purchased new about 2 years ago. I don't have a ton of rounds through it but I don't count either.

Is there any visual way to identify a faulty extractor?

You recently switch brands/type of ammo? I know on my LC9 with factory loads the brass ejects cleanly to the side, but with hand loads they shoot for the moon, bounce off the ceiling and sometimes ping me in the melon.

New Glocks are having this issue across the board. My gen4 G21 pelts my head and face with casings. No word back from glock wich is disheartening. Ughh glock perfection my hiney!

                      This^^
This just happened to my buddy on Wednesday. I was shooting my well used G19 and let me buddy shoot it. First shot, brass to face, he's familiar with guns so he knew exactly what he did wrong. He turns looks at me and says, "the infamous limp-wristing a glock haha" after that he had not a single issue lol.

By the way, mine is a Gen3 G19 that's the older 2 pin model. Thousands of rounds and still running great.

More than one instance of this (me included "damned glock" ) that turned out to be the brass bouncing of the partition wall between shooting lanes and back to my head! LOL

I know BTTFs do happen .. extractor, grip, ammo etc ... but sometimes it's just a fluke!

It was a run of guns affecting both Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glocks. Extractor issue.

Some people say the Apex Extractor will work.

Glock perfection so must be your fault.

We have glocks as standard issue and it can be a combination of worn recoil spring and extractor. If you don't shoot it much then probably just the latter.
