    Beretta 92 1975 with Rust

My friend has a good collection of guns. Always wanted the 92 and he has it from 1975. Problem is hat there is rust on the frame. I only have one picture.

Can anyone give me an estimate based on the barrel with rust and barrel wihout rust? I haven't been to his place yet to see it.

It is hard to give a price based only upon a picture, I would want to examine the entire gun before I made an offer, or told someone what I think it is worth. Also that does not appear at least to me to be a 1970 version of a 92. The ones I have seen have the mag release on the left grip at the lower back. That one looks more like an 80's 92f, at least to me.

Thanks guys. Im just goin by what he told me but he prolly forgot.

Are the 80s Beretta of anymore value than the ones they sell now?

How much would you pay based on pic alone? Also no box.

Considering that it may have some surface rust, I'd offer him 350.00. That is after you've inspected it for any mechanical issues it may have. You should factor in a new recoil spring and the time its going to take to detail strip/clean the thing.

That's pretty much spot on for what I would say. Depending upon condition I'd start at $350 but go no higher than $400. That is if the barrel looks ok, if it needs a new barrel I'd drop my offer by $100 at least, to compensate for the replacement cost. Go over it and make sure every steel part functions smoothly.

I am thinking 300 USD. I had two Berrettas and both were 92FS which I liked along with the M9 and M9A1. The 92, 92F or 92G was mediocre in my opinion

Probably not rust on the frame; they've always been alloy.

I was thinking in the ballpark of 250-3 but couldn't make up my mind. Thx guys.

Hopefully the barrel is a bit rusted so I can drop it to 250 without cheatig him hehe.

I was also thinking about a new recoil spring as well.

Will post pics after I purchase. Thanks again!

Yep,,,alloy frame, not rust but that's an older gun for sure.

That is a much newer gun and I would doubt there is rust.

That Beretta is not from 1975; probably 1985-87 and that's not rust on the frame. Good clean and lube will fix it up.

Hrmm it looked like rust. What exactly is that color? I was wondering why ot's also on the grips since it isn't metal.

So only he internals are metal? Only the INOX doesn't rust at all, correct?

With all this being said, 350 still a good number? 300 would be cheating him, right?

I personally do not like cerakote. I was thinking about bluing it.

The frame is aluminum alloy, so the frame won't rust. However the slide barrel and most of the internal parts are steel and will rust.
It very well may be rust but it isn't the frame that is rusting. It is probably discoloration caused by some rust on the steel. Which is why I would look real close at it internally. What is on the frame as others have said will more than likely wipe right off with a little work. The INOX is stainless, and yes stainless can rust also.
