Anyone get a g17 cut down to g19 size and regretted it?

Here is my dilemma. Currently own a gen3 g34. I'm on the cusp of buying a g17 to cut down the grip to glock 19 size. So ill have one full size frame that i can swap my g34 and g17 uppers and one compact frame to use with the g17 slide for concealed carry. Has anyone done the grip chop and regretted it and rather have had bought the glock 19 instead?

I've seen some people on Glocktalk that have. I think it's ballsy to cut the frame down but seems like an interesting mod

I like the mod IF it is done right. Most of the ones I've seen on the internet are hideous IMO.

exactly. why not just buy a 19 and a 17 slide and barrel. sounds like you just want long slide carry gun

I know a guy that did it to his G22. Looks awkward to the max. You know how you are.

For the .75" difference in barrel length the G19 is a better way to spend your money and you get a second firearm.

                      Just tried a G17 slide on a G19; = no workie.

Now I have to figure out how to get it apart.

Edt: got it apart. Had to pull the trigger all the way back, then rack the slide, while holding the slide back, release the trigger, pull trigger, then pull down the slide releases on both sides, then the slide came off.

At least that is what I think happened...

                          To G19 grip size a G17? Not worth it. Maybe a G19 to G26.

Just get another gun - G19. After all the cost and waiting, you'd have a another gun.
