WOW - OC county CCWs may be recalled

Just heard in the news that all 1,100 OC CCW holders ( basically those that received ccw under the mike corona regime) will be receiving a letter in 2 weeks stating that their cases are going to be reviewed and may have to under-go physcological & medical testing and provide a legit reason to carry (have to prove their is an extreme threat to their life/safety).

Ahhh, OC & LA counties are equal once again

Hutchens is bad. We need to get word out, starting now and not stopping until November 2010, that she won't rest until she has destroyed the OC way of life and turned us into another Los Angeles! All OC voters need to remember these initial steps of hers in 2010, and elect Bill Hunt or another very pro-CCW candidate who will keep OC the shining bastion that it should be.
Do not give in to evil, but proceed ever more boldly against it.

I'm sure that can't be the standard under Heller. If I were a Sheriff, I'd not want to be the one to provide the ammunition (ha ha) to the pro-CCW folks. The anti-CCW folks will get a better result in the S. Ct. if their challanged restrictions are reasonable.

Hmmm, an extreme threat to life and safety?

Do all classes of CCWs have to approximately meet that standard, or are judges or LEO, just presumed to have a heightened possibility of threat?

Maybe now the concealed carry only crowd can see the benefit to having an open carry right to protect their privilege. Even with a "shall issue" privilege, carry is subject to unreasonable legislation and the 51% tyranny of the majority.
False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

Just a guess here, but I don't think the Sheriff can revoke CCW unless it's for an act by the holder. 12050(e)
              (e) (1) The license shall be revoked by the local licensing
authority if at any time either the local licensing authority is
notified by the Department of Justice that a licensee is within a
prohibited class described in Section 12021 or 12021.1 of this code
or Section 8100 or 8103 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, or the
local licensing authority determines that the person is within a
prohibited class described in Section 12021 or 12021.1 of this code
or Section 8100 or 8103 of the Welfare and Institutions Code.
              (2) If at any time the Department of Justice determines that a
licensee is within a prohibited class described in Section 12021 or
12021.1 of this code or Section 8100 or 8103 of the Welfare and
Institutions Code, the department shall immediately notify the local
              licensing authority of the determination.
              (3) If the local licensing authority revokes the license, the
Department of Justice shall be notified of the revocation pursuant to
Section 12053. The licensee shall also be immediately notified of
              the revocation in writing.
Refuse to issue, yes. Refuse to renew, sure.

She wants to require psychological and medical testing for CCW holders. I guess this shows how much she dislikes CCW holders. Is there anywhere in this country that requires medical testing for CCW issue?

BTW, I figured as much as people bragged about OC being CCW friendly that there would be way more than 1,100 permits.

I remember when I was being stalked and applied for a CCW in Los Angeles in a "class action" application that some firearms lawyer as doing. I had death threats and the City wrote a nice letter the gist of which was: You don't need a gun. The cops will protect you." that was when response time (unless you were OJ) in my neighborhood was up to 40 minutes. Thanks, LA.

I predicted this was going to happen as soon as Corona had problems and especially when she took over, didn't take long. I feel all the permits issued for reasons like "frequent range shooter" are going byebye. Time will tell, hopefully she gets voted out in 2010.

                        CA rant

This sad story illustrates again the stupidity and unfairness of the CA CCW laws, which allow local law enforcement to make the decision on who is allowed to have a CCW permit. The vast majority of states have uniform statewide laws for CCW, and strive for equal treatment of all citizens in the state. But California CCW is like a lottery, and you can win or lose depending on where you live and the whims of an individual sheriff.

I won't hold my breath for the dysfunctional state legislature to change this anytime soon, however.

How many CCW permit holders are in jail for murder, assault, or robbery with a deadly weapon? Just thought I'd throw that out there and add fuel to the fire.

I'll go just regular citizens, I want a lower number to prove my point.
